Mad Max 1

Sorry guys but I'm a bit of a V8 nut. If I could get a V8 into the Manx registered, I probaly would. The car chase in the begining is great, especially the scene where they race past the diner. The camera is inside the dinner with goose and outside you see and hear the V8s at full trottle going by. Sweeeeeet.

The worst movie "Leaning to drive", I saw it at the movies. Basical it's a move that slowly and painfully destroys a big beautiful Catalac (spelling?). Painfull.

The Mad Max beginning scenes are good but for me the Supercharged car and its performance is the highlight.
Also in fast and furious the supercharged V8 near the end ....mmmmmmmmmm
" good air ".

For pure petrol-headed thrills, watch Le Mans starring Steve McQueen (1971). He did much of his own driving, in a Porsche 917 alongside Vic Elford, Jochen Rindt and Jacky Ickx among others. Steve is a legend - he doesn't even speak for the first 40 minutes of the movie.

Herbie I have been looking for a copy of DuDu the Wonder Bug for years. I have Vanishing Point (both the 1972 original and the 1995 TV remake) on video - wanna swap?

A really cool car movie is Two Lane Blacktop. It stars singer James Taylor and Beach Boy Dennis Wilson, driving the black '55 Chevy from American Graffiti, and Warren Oates driving a new Pontiac GTO. The sort of movie you watch after a few red wines.

A fantastic film (if you can find it) is Go Trabbi Go - about an East German inventor who makes a high-tech Trabant that runs on vegetable juice and can go 200 mph !! I have it on video.

I was going to suggest Go Trabi Go, but the first movie, the 2 sequels lost their charm. they originally showed it on SBS.
But it drove down the highway at 50miles an hour not 200

Car Napping. A great Italian car stealing movie with heaps of ferraris lambourghinis, a monteverdi and heaps more.
The highlight was stealing 30 odd porsches from a Paris showroom and driving them around the streets in the night with no other cars around.
This was shown on SBS early 80's but haven't seen it since. Perhaps we could lobby Des Mangan to show it as a cult film.

The Wiggles on Safari. had a converted buggy, little red thing but it broke down at the beginning and was never seen again.

I love Ronin and American Grafitti, but my favourites believe it or not are:-

The Brady Bunch
Emergency
CHiPs
....actually any 70's LA based TV series!

Great shows to see some nice LA VW's in the background!

Running on empty, the afor mentioned monaro getting launched off of a vw funly enough changes from a V8 to a straight six as it is sent flying through the air.....

What about "Smokey and the Bandit" and "Corvett Summer". I think there was another Australian one called "Mibnight spares" also.

I would have to agree bout 2fast 2furious its a pretty cool movie! All the other movies are awesome, but if you want kool you cant go past all the chech 'n' chong movies, crazy 70s lowriders, the crazy low ridin delivery van and another van with the whole body made of hemp, Born in east LA even had a mad cal look karmann bug rollin on fuchs, Definetly the coolest car films for me!! By the way has anyone seen Gone in 60 seconds 2, it was made in the late 70s and was absolutly shite!:puke

A good one if anyone can find it was not a chase but a race of sorts across Paris (Fr).
Some guy with a Ferrari toof up some challange to race across the city, in something like 15 - 20min (still trying to remember the time). the run was early morning with onboard camera. F#$%&*g awsome to watch, especially as he near misses an early morning street sweeper. At the end he appears in front of the bonnet and lights one up.

Running on Empty's two door '57 was a four door with the back doors welded shut. Stars were Deborah Conway - Do Re Me fame, The blind guy was Max Cullen

Two Lane Black Top - was different but cool
Midnight Spares, RONIN, Bourne Identity, American Graffiti 1 & 2, where do you stop????

This movie is called Rendezvous. It is available on VCR and DVD - limited edition, hard to get etc etc.

Not sure what happened to my previous response to this - I somehow quoted the wrong thread.
