Grogy, it is still stock. I was thinking about having it removable but I cant get registration if I do it.
The car will be 100% street driven so I need to keep it as standard to look at from the outside so I dont get picked on.

These guards are standard but I am going for a set of 2" wider. I am in SA and they are not kind to cutting, even a removable apron is a hassle. I am cutting large holes in the side at the back to get to sparkplugs. I am also thinking of making the little trays on each side of the engine bay removable.
Think you confused me with another forum member.
Thanks

Removable Stock Rear Beaver Panel

Its pretty easy to make the rear panel removable.

Just make it bolt in thru the existing guard bolts on each side. Need to make the panel have holes instead of cut outs like standard but if you are doing a resto you always have to fix the rear beaver, suggest filling ing the tailpipe cutouts and putting in a solid steel rod inside the roll as it makes it a lot stiffer once all installed.

I did it with mu old 58 Beetle and it was undetectable.

Clearance for tappet cover retaining springs can be overcome with bolt on alloy rocker covers too!

Cheers,

David

Grogy, After re-installing my box and engine agin the other night and how long it takes to do up the intake bolts I have decieded to try to get my enigineer to sign off on a complete removable rear end like 2442TT in the drag section. It is never going back to standard and I dont think it will hurt value in the long run. Also it is my car and it is what I feel is the right thing for this particular car.
There will be update in a while in my members rides section. Bolt on alloy rocker covers always leak.
