competition tight as usual..........rain on and off, and i left before the last runs, so who knows........

good to meet and see Greg Ward out again, Glenn was having a ball........Ben/Cookie & Christene/Heaths beetles were flying as usual!!!........

been a while since i've stood in the crowd and listened to peoples talk about "mad" beetles and their amazment at how fast they go and well sorted
their handling is........unsuspecting onlookers are truely amazed........ it made me very proud of our little cars and the effort we all put into
them.

for the record.......on one of the damp runs, a 4WD skyline was only 2 seconds ahead of the beetles that were banging off the rev limiters for lack of
traction, EVERY time they were opened full throttle.......HOW GOOD IS THAT!!

spectating sucks!..........vids loading!

Well done on the vids Daimo.

It makes the heart race to hear some very quick little beetles ... Very loose on the hairpin for most, looks like a difficult corner to push hard on
without overdoing it.

Great footage Daimo

The vids certainly tell the story for the majority of the day.

Marcus you are right it hairpin is very slippery. Its also very difficult to gudge, when wet, what you'll get away with. Mid corner is hot mix and
the entry and exit are a river gravel set in tar. The road surface when wet could be alikened to an exposed aggregate driveway.........Water seeps out
of the surrounding tyres after rain.

Before the run where Ben, Greg and myself find some opposite lock we all convinced ourselves or each other that it was dry enough to have a good
go.........mmmmmm a little optimistic.........nothing ventured nothing gained.

Its a great track.......much quicker than it looks on the vid........my data logging has peak speed before the hairpin at 148kms.......the track is a
bypassed section of Pacific Highway and it still has all its caracter.........about a 100 bumps and nearly equal number of tar patches........everyone
shakes there head at the insinity of the place for there first visit..........having said all that its a blast to hoon up

For the record the placings changed every run.......the final outcome was Cooky,Myself,Christine,Ben,Greg then Glen......... I don't have the final
times in front of me but I think there was as little as seven 1/100's of a second between Ben,Christine and Myself.

yeah wow that was so much fun in the 'Wrecker Racer' - especially as I had less problems this time than I did at Bathurst. As Heath said, it is a
tricky bastard of a track with mixtures all over the place and the rain flurries we suffered on Sunday made each run a lottery for all of us. Great
camera work Damo - I look better on your vid than I thought I did(n't) on the day

no worries guys, thanx for the spectacle........oh and the waves to my bub on her first trip to a race meet, made the missus feel welcome
too..........we all enjoyed the day out in our beetle very much.

Glenn and Greg off the line with another thrown in to show why the beetles had the crowd amped........

 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wukhUVHep6Y

yeah Glenn, it surprised me too how well the wrecker ran.......heard a couple of kids saying here's my favourite when you were running down the hill
to the start.........certainly made me think about what had to be done to mine to get it out of the carpark and into the starters line up

A lot of the crowd near me were very impressed with how hard the bugs ran, especially compared to a lot of the other vehicles. Several people who knew
me reckoned it sounded like my bug comming - it does have a 1916 an extractors, but - I wish.

Well done to all.

I love Ben Duries Car, it's allways been one of my all time favourite Aussie Beetles. The stance, that red & white paint job & the old school
bathurst globes look fantastic. Thank god he finally painted the fluro front bumper red!

Can someone that see's him regularly ask him to come to the Nationals sprint, it would be great to hear it in full flight down the back straight. Top
sounding beetle!

Craig

Under the eligibility criteria for an historic vehicle , as long as carburetion is as originally supplied OR available as an option, then there is no
problem.

To my knowledge, EFI was provided as an alternative on some later beetles.
