I wouldn't consider them major mods at all, A major mod would be turning it into a baja, or chopping the roof a coupla inches and who gives a shiat anyway its your car so do what you want with it. I will always admire people you go against the flow a bit! BTW your car will look awesome after the mods are done. Now I better go finish puttin that flip front on my '53 Zwitter.;)

Very very nice

Great car.

I love the colour and the interior.

You can modify it without touching the body.

Well done CYA, CT

How did you convert the 36hp to 12v ?

I did it with a 12v generator, which is the same size as the 6v, I thought these were hard to find ?

As for your mods, I would personally like to see your car restored.
Just try not to do anything you can't reverse ! ( just my opinion)

Its hard to find originals these days:D

hi craig,
in regards to the conversion, the generator used is a 6v that has been rewired as you said the same size generator in 12v are very hard to find, as for the mods they aren't hard to reverse at all, just lowered.... that is the only major mod on the car as everything else will be restored to original ,inside / out ....
cheers

sleeper, can you tell me a bit more about the 12v conversion on a 6v gennie. I want to put a modified 36hp motor back in the oval one day. But I want to keep the 12v electrics.
What did it cost and is it reliable.
Cheers

Dean
PS hope you are taking it to Valla. Good photo op with my Grey Oval

hey sleeper... nice ride mate.. i noticed the oil sling marks on the underside of youyr decklid... my 54 did that too after i drove 80 mins from the counrty back to Melbourne, sitting on 80 kph in a 110 zone on a 30+degree day so i wouldn't fry the engine! I got a 1200 in it but its the 40hp version... so i'll whip your @$$ in a drag wouldn't I!? haha... geez we are so slow.... what are you doing about your running gear then?

Cheers

grey 57,
i won't be able to go to valla :( ... as far as 12v conversion, generator has been rewinded in 12v with a 12v regulator, change all bulbs, battery and as far as the rest still 6v gear (wiper, semaphores, horn.... etc) just added some resistance of .75 ohm to run those accesories.... cost of conversion was around $500

oval tofu,
maybe down hill i might have a chance to beat you if i strip the trim and the doors and the lids.... lol

I dunno man... i'm kinda skinny! I've better power to weight!

$500? Is that for the rewiring of the generator, regulator, bulbs and battery and labour?

how much just for getting the gennie redone and a new regulator?

And how much was getting your car lowered? I've got a 54 in Beryl Green that i want/need a bit lower too... pretty much totally stock except for the 40hp engine and 225/60/15's on the back on 7" rims... just a little too wide for the guards, i havent had any probs with scraping yet coz i dont carry anyone/thing in the back... looks good too....

So you still running the 36hp out the back end? I'm thinking of getting a 1600 stocker just to keep up with traffic
Maybe later get a worked 36hp with twin carbs, balanced and counterweighted crank etc.... much much furthur down the track....

tofu or not tofu... that is the question...
