I have been using Ace Products (ACE 40 in my engines and synthetic in my trans now)
for the last couple of years and am very hapy with the results.

I chose the thicker grade due to the bearing clearances that I had built into the engine,
but may actually try the 30 grade at some time in the future.

It is always hard to change to a different brand than what you are used to,
but knowing that it is formulated for VW use by a VW enthusiast who is also an oil Chemist,
I thought I would support a product that was part of the VW scene.

I also agree that a lower viscosity should cool better than a thick one.
It will also use less power,
particularly if the engine never gets up to operating temp..... as for example in a Baja at this time of year.
