They should have got her a camira instead.
or maybe a VL commodore so she can go do some skidders:lol: Then she might be happy

I used to get quite a few waves when I drove a beetle - including once going down a side street getting a very enthusiastic wave from a the driver of a bug with NSW plates.

In a MK1 golf, there's not too many other MK1s to wave at - those you see don't often wave, though some do. I sometimes get a wave from beetle drivers. New golf drivers don't seem to notice and probably don't even know my car is a golf (apart from the 'Join the Golf Club' sticker on the rear window).

Imagine driving a late model golf - you'd be constantly waving as there's so many of the damn things! (Nice cars actually.)

I wave to other drivers, frozen wave while staring if the vw impresses me.

Wave to pedestrians if they're smiling, same if they're pointing and laughing. (which used to get a bit)

The cool kids hanging round parked neonjap and dunnydoors, I play it cool, no wave they don't notice me in the drivers seat, give the throttle a touch just to make sure they get an earfull too.

I always wave, but I've found that the only way to be get a response everytime is to wave out the window. Maybe they don't see me wave through the windscreen.

Speaking of waving.

It 1973 I travelled across Africa from Mombassa to Europe and I found that in tropical Africa (that is in Zaire, Camerouns etc.) A wave from the truck to pedestrians was seldom responded to, but if I held my hand up and did not wave it, the older people would respond in kind and also give me a big smile.

I've interpreted that to mean that a waved hand cannot be read (as in palmistry) so no response is given, but a sationary hand can be read, so a response comes in kind. In other words, I hold up my hand and say in effect, "This is me. Read my palm. I can be trusted." They respond in kind and if we both like what we see, then we will know each other better, maybe trust each other and be prepared to be friendly.

Long as the engine is in the back, I'll wave to it.
