Head temp quoted is measured in Deg Fahrenheit, so 300= 148 deg C
The VDO guage starts at 100deg F (37deg C)and goes to 600deg F (315deg C) so at 300deg F this is an average temp.Vw powered aircraft can see 450Deg F
Head temps (max) under load, and this is acceptable. There is also some figures on ANDY's thread where his Kombi reached 180deg C or 350 Deg
F.

What Compression is the Kombi ?
Your right about the heads, I would use the new style 044's , they are much better, but I purchased mine in 94' and they were the best then!
They still seem to work OK, well the times certainly show that !:kiss

My apologies for the misunderstanding on the temps, I've got the same deal with my guages. Shouldn't u be on the road the Nambucca by
now?

Jak
PS your times are excellent, & so they should be.:thumb
Congratulations to Ben Durie for breaking the hillclimb record at Ringwood in his stroker beetle!

Stop the bickering.
Don't you realise we've all got a common bond?
We've all run the Pobjoy 37/68 cam in our beetles! Isn't that special?
Just trying to heal the rift.
Anyone want to argue about Rudi's gearbox?

I don't beleive that u can have a rift with someone that u have never met before, & wouldn't know even if they popped up in your
cereal.
It's one thing t be a champion, & a dominating one at that, it's another to be gracefull & an ambassador for your sport.

Rudy's gearbox is out of a split window kombi , he even runs the reduction boxes!
How cool is that?

fibs? Did u get a spec sheet when u purchased your engine or is it all top secret?
I'm running 9.0:1 compression & I rarely go over 120degrees on the track & 80degrees on the street, I'd check where u have your
sender, or it could be those street eliminators, thats why no-one that does track uses them?
Just a thought.

I'm confused, why is your car now running to over 130deg C, what have you changed for that increase ?
