OK here is a suggestion for the first prize ,should any racing god forbid, ever actually happen other than here on the net, as we all know any such participation would be foolhardy

Bug Racer, I have no idea what class you would be in........this is about comparing quick beetles, yep thats right BEETLES. I'm not suggesting rules for a VW class........mate give it a rest. The SIMPLE RULES FOR BEETLES has nothing to do with your car.

Id want a class for all quick street VAG cars , your so biased cause you have a car that can participate . Your even so biased as to not allow type 3's and kombi's .

Why is it its always the air cooled guys that are so biased against the watercooled cars ?

I dont see this biasness when it comes to V8 drag racing . Why do we see it here ?

And I want an answer which class would you put me in ? Im trying to compare quick street cars as a whole .

Well yes the V8's are biased.....to V8's ! Can a Top Fuel drag car race in the Door Slammer Class ??

Dude this is 2 simple rules I'm suggesting to allow Beetles to be compared in Drags...

I'd put you in "non beetle class"

B R. My partner and i also have a water cooled dub we would like to race with other WC cars. We also have a couple of AC cars and can see where you are going and what you want to achieve and agree. there should be a class for all VAG street registered models.

But your missing the point with this thread.

Craig has made a suggestion on a Street Beetle class only.
Probably because the interest in volksies for him is the humble bug.
Non the less it is a topic on Street BEETLES and nothing else.
If you want to gauge interest on a series for all Street VAG models start a new thread for your self and see how you go.
No point banging your head and crying out to be accepted in this thread. It's all about BEETLES only

As Ian and Rose have suggested.
How about looking at Gunnedah Drag strip for such a run

Craig is too scared to race 1/8 mile these days:smilegrin:

Comparing W/C to A/C on the strip doesn't really prove anything. 30 plus year old technology against the latest and greatest isn't a fair platform plus you will have whingers about being fwd.

Best bet is to see some more water pumpers at Warwick and Portland as there is a class for you to run in. But we harldy ever see more than 3-4 cars run. Beauty of these events is on saturday you can run anybody you want to. so if you have the fastest water cooled Volksy you can line up a fast air cooled Volksy heads up racing just the way I like it.

As for running air cleaners and cooling systems Craig you have been out of the drag scene for quite a while haven't you......

Don't need rules when everyone runs on a dail-in , thats bracket racing . We need any type of volkswagen out there racing showing the brand .As Australia is mighty big place , talk to your mates , then head out to your local track together in numbers for fun .
By running test & tunes , street meets you can run against your mates and develope your drag skills and your car .
Thats what us queenslanders do !

I think you guys are missing my whole point .

Last year at Warwick there were 2 watercooled cars . A van and the wifes VR6 . What is going to happen if this year only I come up in a watercooled car ? Like you want me to bracket race , umm against who , myself ? I want a creation of rules so that I can fairly evenly compete against other street cars .

The whole argument of you have later technology or you have more power is a lame argument . I have almost 1500kg (1435kg weighed at wsid 2005) of weight to push and only have 1.8 litres to do it with . Its now 2l but the cost to get it there would exceed a short motor from Scat/Pauter . Everything for this car is double if not more the cost of what Gene Berg charges for their products so you need to put that into perspective ! And Im always going to be pushing almost double the weight compared to air cooled cars !

So we can see you all at gunnedah to have some fun in your vw's more the better to beat the v8 guys

Tamworth Drag Association have about 4 events each year to go to and it only cost $100 for 2 days of racing.

So with all the interest in this post we should see heaps of vw's there.
