I actually like this look I guess I could get my wheels widened or buy widened steel rims then add the white inserts and use the original hub caps

Those above look like the older wide-5 stud pattern.
If you're after second hand 4 stud 5.5 inch wide steelies. You can have these with tyres for $200.

thanks will keep it in mind i get the car on Saturday so need to work out what I want to do.
I would have the rims re painted and cleared I just think if all im doing to my white 69 is to lower the front and put wide wheels then they are more
suited than mags but in the end it is just personal preference

Barls,
Here is one back for all the times you get up people for not complying with the rules you enforce. Check your add, no postcode.
Please see part of your quote below;
"Ok enough is enough.
If you post an add and it is not in line with the rules YOUR POST WILL BE DELETED, NO COMMENT JUST DELETED .... you have been warned It really isn't
that hard, you get great coverage for FREE so I don't think it is to much to ask ......."
I hope you take this as constructive criticism as it is intended and realise we can all make mistakes. And I hope this wasn't a mistake pointing
this out and you can have a laugh at yourself
Kev

bus914 what is the offset on these rims and the tyre size you are running? Have you had any clearance issues on the type 3?

I have decided to go with the EMPI 8 spokes with 195's x V65 on the rear and 175's x V65 on the front. I will then have RAW do some drop spindles

Offset is how far the wheel sits fron the face of the drum/rotor
have a look here
http://www.1010tires.com/WheelOffsetCalculator.asp
A stock wheel is 4 1/2" ET 41
A V Force Spider and Porsche Cookie Cutter is 6" ET 36
The above wheels are probably the best fitmant for a super beetle.
They are also very good for a beam beetle
A lot of 4 stud wheels are 6" ET 20 and this is too wide for a decent lowering

Ok just to update where I am at based on my other thread about tyres
Rosie will have drop spindles installed still need to decide whether i should do this before or after the wheels.
Tyre sizes will most likely be
Rear 195 x 15 x V65
Front 175 x 15 x 175
Have placed an order for EMPI 8 spokes (due in July) but am a little torn on whether I should buy these or go with a mode traditional look of have
chrome wheels with hubcaps as Rosie is a pretty straight looking 69. If i buy the 8 spokes I may paint the callipers and drums racing red as that will
make the car go faster lol
In the end it comes down to personal choice and thats the problem. I will be going to the Australian Nationals next month to have a good look at
wheels and upholstery so maybe i will make a final decision then.
If you have photos of your beetle with chrome wheels would love to see them on here
