Had a quote for a new interior today was a little surprised at the price quoted
1. Fully trimmed carpet and mats = $700
2. front buckets and rear seats reupholstered in vinyl with two colours and the plastic surrounds colour matched = $2300
3. Read deck and side panels = $1000
Total cost $4000 and an additional $1000 for leather
At his stage i am thinking to go with the floor and seats and try and squeeze in the rear deck for $3000.
I only really need to replace the right hand side drivers door side panel so hope to pick up an original.
what do you guys think?

Sounds v.pricey.
Just picked up a new Kluger for the wife and had the dealer fit aftermarket leather for $2500. This includes door trims and all 7 seats.
This was negotiated after the deal on the car was allready done. Best price I was quoted from an upholsterer was $2700.

doesn't sound that far off - i paid $1200 just for the length of leather for my car. Though, i must say, if i had my time again i would probably use
the budget on other stuff...Make sure you priorities and do the 'pretty' things at the very very end - too many things get wrecked otherwise.
But, $4000 for full trim to me sounds about right. IF its all custom.

Thankd guys ,
I was hoping to pay around $2K but i guess i was being a little optomistic. I will get a few more quotes before decidingwho to go with.
It was a totally custom fit out including recolouring thevinyl surrounds on the telstar seats and full custom carpet with matching mats.
The rear seat would be red with a bone strip in the centre. The front seats would be red with bone inserts and a vw emblem on the bone section at the
top
I am hoping to get some good ideas at this weekends Nationals

Hi guys
4k to 5k is about right. I recently had my Oval done 2 front seats and 4 panels in leather, vinyl hood lining and carpets.
Paulc; Anthony at Ingleburn does a great job, my car will be a first timer at the Nats (dark blue Oval)
See Ya

Paul it will just be known on the books as a 1500 beetle
the 1302/3 designation was never used in Aus but thats a 70s superbug thing anyway
also not to be confused with the 1300 pov spec 70s bugs

I would get new front seats those ford ones look to big., I wouldn't use leather, I would just use a trim fabric like in the newer cars as its easy to keep clean and they look good.

oh ok thanks the reason why i asked is because I was watching Beetle Crisis and the guys are doing up a 1302 71 model and the comments from some of
the restorers was a 1302 wasn't a popular beetle and was a waste to restore.
I know the pre 67 are the more sort after but thought my 69 was still worth spending some money on lol

Go the leather Paulc if you can stretch the wallet that far. I have found leather to be way easier to clean and keep looking good. Just need to be
diligent with leather conditioner every few washes.
I am planning on bright white leather for the interior of mine but I am sure I am having a little mental breakdown with that one.
BTW I like the seats without the headrests big improvement.

Thanks Trent, took rosie for a spin today and literally did in the rain lol I am not driving her far until i get better wheels and tyres. I have
ordered wheels from Rod Penrose who is in America as we speak . All going well the wheels will be here in 6 weeks.
At last weeks Nationals my wife and I had a good look at interiors and the leather look vinyl actually looked good.
The blacks seats are the style I want, these are the same seats as mine, and the light grey, cream is the colour we will do the seats and side
panels

Paul,
Pre - 67 may be the most sort after, but the 1968 - 1970 1500, was the best Beetle ever made.

If all goes to plan I pick my 71 1302 next week. I like what you have done with mounting your front speakers. Are those housings easily gettable?

I bought some soundproofing material from autobahn. It is a rubber compound that is self adhesive. It isnt cheap though I paid $40 and mounted it on
the side kick panels and in behind the speakers and the inserts
