As I said in the previous thread, 'This is PATHETIC'

The fact that this thread exists tells me that we need moderators, or at least baby sitters for the kids!

All this friction and nobody even had to mention 3.1415927 * (94/2)^2 * 69 * 4 / 1000. I think we have all progressed a long way since the early days of the forum.

surely this thread is insulting and going nowhere ?

RE : A........
IT WAS MY POST AND IT HAS NOW BEEN COMPLETELY TAKEN OUT OF CONTEXT
Sorry for using my opinion........i was right though, not everyone wants to hear from.........,
as evident in this slanging match, funny posts by some of you,

Feel free to censor / abuse (just PM it so that it doesn't get deleted ) or laugh at me,
i really didnt think anyone would be offended by it,

or maybe it was my reference to AVD at the beginning, ( aahh AVD, everyone has an opinion....)

Who really cares ?

this thread is far more insulting and inflammatory than the supercruise thread!
How then has it survived??
Oh thats right you have to ask the puppets/moderator to delete it
consistency is the key to good moderation
not knee jerk reactions to buddies complaints

Maybe it's because I'm old, but I don't understand any of this!

Has it something to do with LOCTITE?

Cheers, Greg

The thread has been cleaned, but I do see a little remnant of the argy bargy, and if that's any indication of the sort of thing going on, I support the moderators' choices in cleaning it out.

Please consider your fellow Dubbers when posting something negative, particularly when we need more events and more friendships here, not less.

More cruises!

thanks,
Andrew

Oh sorry Barls, thats your other Standard response.

Im with Silver on this one. We are all big boys and girls, censorship should be an absolute last resort.

Andrew, some of the Mods have at times been heavy handed in their approach. Perhaps a warning in the thread first would help.

When is enough, enough!

I've been alive longer that some of you have been embryos in you grand mother’s wombs. That right, even before your mother was born. I am old, retired and look forward to see what’s on AVD. I don’t like everything I see on here but I do get a good giggle now and then.

Now wankers come in all shapes and forms, and being a realist, I have done things in the past that in hindsight, sadly found me guilty of being a wanker too! It happens!

In a civilised society, if a person is misrepresented in any way, they have the right to a range of legal options including defamation.

If I were offended by comments on a forum, I would firstly report the incident to the forum administrator and if nothing was done, I would have the option of taking legal action against both the web site and the author of such comments. Sure, there are two sides to the argument, and that is what a judge will consider from the arguments of the prosecutor and the defence.

All it needs, is some bitter old bugger with too much time on their hands, a lot of money in the bank with not long to live, who is looking for an opportunity to kick some young bucks arse in a court of law to make his point and then seek damages.

Think about what you say/post on this site, because law makers and law enforcers have an amazing amount of information on this site that they can use against you.

Remember, most lawyers give the first meeting for free, and if they think they can earn themselves a dollar, well that’s what makes the world go around.

I agree with you completely and to make a point I have not defamed anyone ever! I merely reserve the right to an opinion and will often exercise that right, and sincerely hope others will as well
sure not everyones opinion is going to sit well with everyone but that is life!
The most important point in legal issues is "He with the least money loses"
as for litigation I do not have a case to answer for, others though should be as clever

A very interesting subject indeed.

Is moderating fun? Sometimes.

It's fun until it becomes a chore, and when you know that no matter what you do, someone, somewhere will take offense. Being picky on things does not make for a fun forum, and I believe we need some grey areas instead of total black and white on some rulings. However, some of the rules that are in place are there to protect the consumer. Those rules might seem a bit anal, but if someone gets ripped off by someone on the forum, they may very well come after those who run the forum.

As for freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is great until someone takes offense and decides that they're going to go after the mods, administrators, or other members and sue them because of a libelous post. This is why cleanups occur - to keep threads on track and to remove possible damaging content. If you're prepared to inflame and argue, then also be prepared to have some of the content removed occasionally. This is not about taking away the right of free speech, but to ensure forums such as this remain operational and viable.

I can certainly understand that we're all big boys and girls and should have thick skins, but the reality of the matter is that people will and do take offense, and will take action if they feel they must.

If you don't like it, that's fine too. Perhaps come up with some ideas on how the mods can try and manage these types of situations in the future? Remember though - the mods are dubbers too, only doing this as part of their hobby, and to keep AVD operational.
