Hi
The real go fast goodies are coming out now, dual cup holders.
I'm going to mount this on the centre base of the dash I think or maybe under the glove box.
Its from a Daewoo, I bought it on eBay ages ago.
Thanks for the kind words Dylan and everyone else.

Hi
Like my favourite serial killer Dexter I like to drink and eat while I drive, my Hi Lux has really cool single ones and my really old Hi Lux had dual
ones sort of like the Daewoo one above.
I think that I've hit a bit of interest fro VW owners, the cup holder photos have been down loaded 40+ times.

I'm liking this one:
http://www.aerpro.com/list.php?pcode=FP9009&cat_name=in-dash+mounting+kit...
Just think, a centre console with a few guages, your stereo and then this little drawer with some cup holders. Sweet
Shame you can't see how good the cup holders would be

Hey Pete,
Last I checked your job (and your previous job) didn't require you to get up early in the morning and sit in traffic for a long time. Must've been a
shock for you this year having to get up early enough to get a child to school Some of us appreciate our morning coffee to make us human when we get to work
Perhaps if you added cup holders you'd like your car so much you'd stop trying to sell it?????
And BTW, you're not getting my Beetle, you'd only do evil things to it, Gwendolyn knows she's safe with me.

Steve,
Don't put a Daewoo cup holder in your dub, get one of these instead that slot into your ashtray from mooneyes in Japan:-
Car is looking good Steve, I like the 911 inspired snorkel on the wing.

It was a shock and I've decided never to do it again
If cupholders and power windows (owned!) are your biggest concerns you need to decide if you want a beetle or a camry... oh that's right, you already
have one...
...and you're right, I would do something evil to your beetle coz
I'm sick of waiting for you to do something...
BTW, if you wanna hit me up for being soft, you might like to take into consideration the lack of stereo, sound proofing, doors, and a heater that
takes 15 mins to warm up... and lets not even talk about the rearvision mirrors that don't seem to work at all. I consider somewhere to put my wallet
and phone a luxury. Everything else is just extra weight to slow you down....

Hi
I already have a cup holder for an L bug, I bought it from CIP, it works OK but is a bit big & clunky when not in the dash and I like using my
ashtray for storage.
I'm taking the body off the pan again in a few days and then its going to get soda blasted and then off to the beater.
One of the jobs I need to do is fit the new "air con" front apron. As can be seen it comes with pre-installed rust, that's why I like idea of
Mexican seals.

Hi
OK body off the pan now, no surprises which is good, the car body has not been on the road or track since 1983 so that would be expected.
I need to finish a few things off then its off to get blasted and painted, then I can concentrate on the pan.

I hope VW sacked whoever designed the seal / clip thing that holds that rust
I cry every time I see some one do a fantastic build and they have kept the original trim
As for cup holder I have one that was custom made for the tunnel and sits in front of the shifter

Hi Steve,
How are the sway-a-way axles? I'm just at the point of ordering them now. I think I should bite the bullet and get G50 size axles and stubs rather
than using he carrera 4 trans end flanges and type 2/944 axles and CVs. Any recommendation for suppliers? Were you happy with the final length? I'm
hoping I can get away with a standard length...
Rich
PS Are you still on the same email? I wasn't sure when you said about having this thread instead of the old build page...

Hi Rich
The axles seem to fit up OK with heaps of splines, I put some tape on them so that they didn't get scratched, paint lifted off where bit of painted
over rust was.
I bought mine via a local guy, I think he got them from the USA from a guy called ugly.
I cant remember the length now but they wouldn't likely be anything like a standard Porsche length.
I've sent a PM with my new email

Hi
Body has been soda blasted and is now at Cooltop Smash in Peakhurst getting the body prepared for paint, this weeks colour is Porsche Blood Orange, I
don't think that I will change my mind again.
Mobile Soda blasting did a fantastic job, no warps etc, really nice guy to deal with.

Hi
It was $900 but that didn't include mudguards or engine lid. Its a very gentle process it even left the factory seam sealer in the drip rails, it
wont remove rust or thick nicky.
This body has not been driven since 1983, there was no rust at all in the rear window area.
The finished photos don't do it justice, the finish looks like you see in the factory assembly line photos.
Old repairs can be seen as a different shade to the rest of the body.
I've just been around at the panel beaters rust treating all the bits I welded in firewall area with some product from Wurth, now on with pan.
