Breaking the back of Mako .... little wonder they were only a bed frame with a seat and a spot to bolt the front suspension and the 1200cc engine....
suppose that one less Mako out there in Historic Formula Vee Land.

yes it did , back then it had a 2.9 type-4 with twin 48IDA webers (which I believe are now on Matt Berrys Hillbilly racer) and later that year changed
from the webers to injection .
For the past 5 years the sports sedan has been running a temporary (throw together) engine so that my staff , my son , my mates and myself could use
it .
The original 2.9 engine went into my turbo oval back in 2005 and was turbocharged . Now that I have built a complete new engine for my oval , the
original 2.9 is being refreshened with a new crank & rods , pistons & barrels , the type-4 titanium valve heads off the oval engine and will
be fitted back into the sports sedan. Nothing will be used from the current 2440 engine as I want to keep it as a complete spare .
The sports sedan will stay in the race shed now until the new engine is ready . Cant wait to drive it again with the big engine.......

Herbie at Kembla Grange Speedway 1979
this is the oldest piece of vw footage that I have . It is not brilliant quality , but still viewable . The full chassis super-sedan affecionately
known as 'Herbie' was a crowd favourite . In this vid Bob Marskell (owner/driver) shows his full potential .
This is the same car I drove at Goulburn speedway in 1991/1992 . Herbie is now retired and lives in the customer carpark at WPVW.....The supercharged
engine was sold off in pieces but I still have the methanol injection and the supercharger . The supercharger is currently fitted to Ben Fords' WPVW
drag bug....

I took the entire rotary conversion and 5-speed out of my bug in 1997 , fitted a 1916cc engine and trans , and sold it to a guy near Bathurst . I
serviced it for a while as he travelled down to visit his relatives , but I heard about 12 months ago that it had been stolen in Sydney and
trashed....
The blue notch in the vids is the same notch that I have at my shop now restoring it for KD . I was writing for VWMA on the resto but there has been a
temporary hold on the project as KD has being doing his doctors degree at uni , just got married and bought a house .
SO MUCH FUN !! ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE....we even look back at the catasrophes , and still laugh !!

NSW Hillclimb c-ship Rd-5 Huntley 2000
this video is entirely of Huntley hill 2000 , round 5 of the NSW hillclimb championships . Wpvw was there and set another new track record in the
sports sedan 2001-3000 class . This record still stands today , 10 years on (25.46 secs for the 658 meter climb)......
since then I have set a new club record in the same class of 24.45 secs.....

in 2000 I won the Australian Hillclimb Championship in the sports sedan 2001-3000ml class . Competeing against mazda rotarys , datsuns , holden 6cyls
, none could catch the WPVW sports sedan.....

Valla racing 1990 short track ( poor quality footage sorry)
not very good footage sorry , Craig Torrens in the red beetle , Stan Pobjoy in the maroon beetle , Jeff Unwin in the green Hellbug , Steve Muller in
the blue ragtop oval , Paul Muller in the blue oval.....
please let me know if any of these drivers are incorrect....
