yeah for 200 buks I would take too, even if it is auto
Not to worry I got a spare 4 sp on the shelf, shifter and shift rod. Think I may have a clutch cable too. Would be fun to drive around. I got room to
drive it, after all I live in rural areas.

Funny, everyone saying $200 is hardly worth it for the whole car,
has anyone actually tried to buy an auto type3 box recently?.....
Although they dont seem to take well to sitting for years, my exposure to them is limited to driving home an auto fastback a mate bought that had been
sittign for a few years and it took a while of driving before it settled down and stopped changing roughly and at all the wrong times

yeah 200 is a steal I would pay a grand maybe 1200 for a car like
that. Fact is don't really feel like buying another car atm and auto spoils it a bit for me.
I paid 5k for my notch and i feel that was a good deal considering how much i wanted it and loved it.

That's easily worth $200 any day, even with the auto and the rust. I think if it was running and driving it would easily make $1000 or more, probably
north of $2000 with rego. I'm sure someone will snap it up for that $200 price and get to work fixing it up.

Wouldn't be a problem if it was here in SA!
But yes, getting it through one of those pesky inspections may require a bit of work.

floor pan halves are $380 per side
or find a doner pan if you can that isn't stuffed also
or make up some panels from sheet - but it needs to be pressed or ribbed for strength for the seat runners etc
so once you do all that and pay someone to put them in - the pan halves start looking ok
so $200 for the car plus $380 or $760 for the pan halves if you need two, plus having them fitted
then you need to start with the other usual rust spots, sills, bottoms of the doors, parcel shellf, front air vents, tops and bottoms of front guards,
inner a pillar and behind brake res, and then the bumper bracket points...
once the rust is fixed, you'll need to get it running, maype get the torque converted serviced or reco'd, a full service on the engine, front end
bearings, ball joints/tie rods etc and you're starting to get somewhere, check lights, lenses, indicators, horn, interior and seatbelts, then type3
rubbers and seals aren't cheap or easy to get (except some of the aftermarket shit that doesn't fit)
certainly looks like she has potential, and in no way am I bagging the car, but depending on the rust issues etc you may well be in for quite a few
bucks by the time she's roadworthy...
eitherway all type3's are cool and worth 'trying' to save
my 2c
ben
definately still good buying but don't underestimate the bigger picture

statisfaction you get restoring something to its former glory

Unfortunately the lucky buyer was not me....
However I am optimistic that one will come my way. I have the wife on side, well she doesn't like the type 3's and wants me to get a beetle, but has
said that it is up to me as long as it is in my budget....

LOVE the colour 'clementine'

coolio
wheels to help me roll it round
play with mechanics on the weekend - see how she goes...
all the rust is fixable - just weather its worth doing...?!!?
got some pan sections coming just in case we go that way... and the rest is spot repairs
except for the heater channels... they're the harder bit...
otherwise it will be used to save the notch...!

no chance due to the rain on the weekend - just spent some time on the ol girl this arvo...!
she's alive - spend half an hour on her, some fluids a battery, chase a fuel leak and the lead that runs from the gearshift which had come loose
and away she went - fired in seconds after a few churns - sounds pretty damn good.... making it harder and harder to decide weather to save or
strip...!
ah well job done for the day....! haven't driven her yet - maybe tomorrow...
