Hi Brian,

Thanks for the advice.

I'm going to check the top float level with a cardboard template. I'm going to check the distance to the needle and seat from the top of the carb with a tread depth gauge. Then I'm going to use copper washers for the banjo fittings and lock wire the bolt so it doesn't come loose.

I got my rebuilt kits from my local autopro shop , they didnt cost much.

A happy ending


The engine idles smoothly and pulls hard right through the rev range. I was surprised. The IDAs feel almost the same as the IDFs. I'm a happy camper. But I'll see how they go in Sydney traffic on Friday. Then on the freeway to Goulburn. Then at Wakefield Park on Saturday. They're so cool. Fingers crossed.
