Cool 56 belongs to Jeff from Flat Four. The car has just been redone since a little problem a while ago. Will post some detail pics of it soon. Had to
take a heap to make the poster of the car...

Absolutely!! The weather was fantastic....especially Sunday. I started my trip home with the roof down...makes for much nicer cruising.

I too had a great time (4th Valla - each one has been great in its own way). I was lucky enough to be driving around Guy Harding's PMG splitty
van for the weekend. Apart from a leaking rear main seal on the way home and a slipping clutch it didn't miss a beat. Nice not having to worry
about polishing a car for the show Thanks for the loan Guy!
Didn't have a chance to catch up with too many forum members, tried to have a chat with Dave but I guess you were busy talking with others as the
conversation lasted a whole 20 seconds
Look forward to getting there in my own car next time, who knows, may even have my corvair powered 64 double door panel there in two years (maybe)

Was great to be able to finally match some faces to names (Nobody ever looks how you expect!).
The cars were awesome! The Flat Four Club were parked/camped directly opposite us (Klub VW) so we got a good look at that Hot Pink Oval, very nice
indeed!
See ya all there again in another 2 years! Wouldn't miss it!

Hi
The peach bug is owned by Mike @ Vintage, he drives the LMS drag car and his brother John owns the super low Blue ghia that has been off the scene in
mothballs much to long, but not much longer Ive heard.
We have decided that we ran out of VW/party time so we are going to go up on the Thursday in 2 years time.
It was great to meet you all, did anyone take a group photo?

Our first time at Valla was fantastic
Nice to catch up with some forum people and met plently of other friendly Dubbers throughout the weekend. We just got back today as stopped off to see
some relos on the way back. Haven't had a chance to resize photos yet (took over 200 I think at 1600 x 1200) but will pick out some goodies and
post them in the next day or so hopefully.
Do you think I should do so in another thread in case this one is now taking too long for some people with slower connections to load up?
Benetton, as far as I know, Jeff, the owner of Cool56 is not a frequenter to this forum that I know of. I do have some more pics I think so will post
them too.
Having a trouble free trip up and back mechanically was a relief. The Kombi went well and didn't cause us any grief.
The street line-up on the Saturday was amazing, so many nice rides in the one place. All the locals seemed to be out in force too appreciating the
VWs. It was funny to see many enthusiests crawling over the restored, stock and modified VWs and our Kombi was packed with kids!! They all seemed to
want to look at the Simpsons fridge and bright interior.
My kids had a great time and we are all looking forward to the next one

Kol, Skewy & Me rolled into to Melbourne, all safe and sound, at about 6.00pm last night. Long haul home. Not bad time considering we didnt leave
Valla until 4.00pm on Monday. Amazer was still having probs with the Turbo Bus, so we left Jay and Chris & Family in a little town about 20ks from
Newcastle.
Kols alternator seized near Gosford so it was back to the battery swapping all the way back to Melb.
But it was all worth it, because I had the best time in Valla. So good to meet lot of the nice peeps here & look at some sweet VW's. The
parade to Nambucca was excellent and the main street jam was something I won't ever forget.
Thanks to Boris and the boys for the campside repairs on Friday. And thanks to Brissie and Sydney gangs for the laughs and hangovers.
I'll be back in two years for sure. :thumb

I wuz there!! and there!!
Yep it was fun to match some names and faces and stuff, but the matching only lasted about seven minutes, before meeting a whole barrage of other new
faces and names to obliterate my already skanky memory. I must have met billions of people.. but can only remember about 200 faces, without names. i
remember 1302steve (who could forget a scary bloke like that ) and
skewy (funny bastard) STILL I have to say it's time to start booking for next valla, so i can get a spot in the park. I stayed down the road at
nambucca, which was a bummer as far as driving around all over the place goes... harder to get drunk
Me Jay, Kruizin Kol, Grey 57, and a couple of pikers (hehehe) participated in a moonlight vigil as we warmed ourselves over amazer's cooked kombi
motor on sunday night. sure the other camps had 'fires' and laughter, and booze, and dancing and strippers.... but we had ... a couple of
possums and an apple.
ahh shit.
we had fun
thanks to Kruizin Kol for the use of his pits and tools (anyone need anything like a blue series bosch rotary hammer.. *drool* he pretty much had it)
I soldered my speakers back on after arriving late at the barbecue, and somehow missed the trophy stuff and the swap meet and all that. no real deal,
because I had no money left anyway... had to rely on girlfriend to buy petch on return trip
in a freaky coincidence three snot green vws lined up in the convoy two of which were twin 71 supers.. the one parked in the middle in town was mine
(see photos previous ) unfortunately being stuck in the parking lot in
main street was not conducive to getting to the track on time, as the racers were supposed to park up the front so we could leave early for the track.
i was only an hour late. if you went to the race i was the guy sitting in the passenger seat for all the right hand turns and hanging out the window
on all the left handers. no matter how hard i tried i couldn't seem to keep it in a straight line with my bodgy steering box and hard highway
tyres... and crappy driving. Never heard so much screaming from my slides... damn it was funnnnn have a lot to learn about cornering, but i stayed on the track.
i was the only 'base' 1916 out there, and my lil bug held it's own. at the back of the track was a double hairpin. quite a sudden sight
from the fastest part of the course with serious understeer.. woohoooooo
i got a racetrack fine for 'impersonating leo the lion' at the dinner that night. wtf. didn't get fined for not doing a standing start
first time out (still in 'ohcrapi'mlateshitshitcaughtintrafficdammhurryup' mode) but there was no official timing on the day. i was
told by a couple of people i got 68 seconds fairly consistently. (track record being something like 50 seconds.. oop) felt like about ten seconds a
lap. shame more bugs coudn't turn up to race. six 1916s were there, and a fasty, and a notch, and a golf, and.. and ... enough about racing.
Haa hahha to jenz for actually meeting me at the dinner (you said you'd find me... and you were right)
congrats to jay for freezing her "$%@#" ass off all night while we warmed ourselves by amazers engine party, and thanks again to kol's
insane tool collection. like wes, noone said anything to my face about anything to do with anything (hey.. we have a forum for flaming ) and the locals loved the action, sitting out on their lawns and fences
and kerbs waving and smiling at the convoy, and wandering curiously amongst the aberrations in main street. next valla i want to have money... and i
want to go to the swap meet... and bid at the auction... but i'm not going to bid for the $400 jumper.
Kol has some great pics and some little vids on his camera which i hope to see posted sometime:thumb
