Cheers vw54, took it to DOTVW, literally 5 minutes away,
Stanley, ive been keeping my head down trying to get some proper progress before I post anymore!
Here's an update anyway, now you've asked! the centerlines I ordered back in feb have arrived, 6x15 3 3/8" back spacing (just foul stock guards), i
have some widened f/glass rear guards for it now.
The car now has brakes, oe front drums, t3 rears, cnc stage brake, park brake.
I went over some of my engine assembly, DB has my heads,
My brother is a cnc guy & is making aluminium collar for carb stack, lots of small stuff going on
made a new shift coupler panel,
pics to follow
cheers, Barry

Hi Pauly. thats going to be on this weekends agenda, thanks again for bringing them down,
The ride height, at the moment, is governed by the pedder 90/10s, 1 caster shim, it won't go up anymore.
But that might be ok.

No I haven't.... The chop is not quite as extreme as yours.... It's more like the Gonzo rod that Mike Pye built in the UK.... 65mm in the back with
the stock window tilted forward, and 100 in the front.... Still need to do the 'B' pillars and the doors, not to mention the finish welding.... Will
take some pics this weekend....

Here's those pics I promised....
As I said.... Not as hardcore as yours, but I think the proportions are pretty good..... If it becomes a drag/street car instead of a VRod, I don't
know.... But there's still plenty to do.

Hi Simon, chop does looks good! Well proportioned. I am familiar with the gonzo bug, I think it was a 2" chop from memory.
It worked really well on that car!
Have you posted these pics before. There's a lot of work there & twice as much thinking it out!
Is that the original rear wiindow laid over?
I carried out my chop a little different, 5" chop, old fashioned hot cross bun cut, used a donor roof skin in the centre once everything was squared
& centred, so all the metal work was accessible from edge of the car, I originall y cut the original rear window but later welded an oval window
in its place, I also used donor B pillar tops, I didnt pie cut the screen edges at all, I used a filler panel in the centre of the roof approx. 50mm
& from memory the rear centre was a negative 5mm (it overlapped slightly) the b pillars required pinching & there was a lot of work in the
door tops.
Was you considering putting it on the road at all, I mean getting it engineered?
You seem to have some interesting projects Simon!
Cheers & good luck Barry

Doing the roof chop as you did was considered, but in the end we used a thread on the Volksrod site as a reference.... The chop is only tacked at this
stage as the inspectors want to see how the roof has been modified internally.... The window templates fit the seal lip very neatly all round, so
making windows to fit should be pretty easy.... The rear window is a stocker.... The body on the POS was going to be replaced not that long ago, but I
thought better of it, as the body is not too bad.... Only really needs new heater channels.... But then I got to looking at your project.... Will prolly get back to it after the drag season and of
course the rego of the T34, and efi/turbo charging of the Bus....

i took an easy way out with door glass, be careful with a b & c pillars, they are considered box sections, they require "staggered" joins, at
least here in vic. lots to check out if its going to be used on the road. cheers

Stanley engine case is assembled, if i'm honest I should be alot further along than where I am right now, pumps mounted & cams degreed since this
photo. Put a bit of time in drilling, tapping, cleaning galleries earlier on, CR is going to be determined by how heads come back from DB (should be
around 9;1), I have some pre-loved SF heads 44x37, pistons & ring assembly next & set crank end float/mount flywheel.
CB AS41 case, 10mm case savers, raceware head studs, etc. The turbo oil drain is going into the t3 dipstick opening below no.2 cylinder.

Awsome car mate. Great work.
One thing, your case pictured above is a CB Alu case, not AS41 which is a VW magnesium alloy. Just a typo I'm sure
