I too have learnt that an engine put together by someone else is just an unknown.
All my parts were good fortunately but would not have lasted 12 months.
You are right, the money now for the known result is worth it in the long run.

Just about to jump on train to collect the car.

Shame about the weather. At least I'm getting the car back though.

Can not wait to get there and see how it went on the dyno after the build.

Mike was happy with it when I spoke to him last night and said I should have a huge smile on my face. I am sure I will which will make it all worth it.

Now just trying to figure out if I can afford to keep it as the extra expense is something I was not counting on. But at least know it's done correctly now and if I do sell it I will know that the car and engine I sell are great and I would not have a guilty conscience.

I hope I figure a way out to keep it

I really hope you can keep the car especially now u have a rebuilt engine. The problem is even if you sell you may not cover the total cost.

Hi

My opinion is that you only loose money when you sell them, the value to you is priceless.

7.9:1 and 119rwhp (or so I heard), and now it's 10:1 and how much power?????

What are your expectations with the new combo?

Was Mike not able to keep the lower CR? More power at the same CR would mean more.........at least then we are comparing the same thing.

Hi Just got home.

On the way home I rang the wife and said we are not selling the car.

Matt the car did get 119 on the lower comp. - when I bought it I took it out to Mike to have it tuned up it, was backfiring at lot and running rough.

he put it on the dyno and could only get 110 the engine had only done 500kms or so i was told.

that power loss had me concerned that in such a short drive time it had lost the power.

Mike also came across a few otherthings that made me think its better to pull the engine apart and check.

As much as it hurt the back pocket it was so worth it, even though I have only driven it home - not great roads to drive on.

The dyno sheet I have says 151hp now.

It sounds great with the new exhaust and its so smooth to drive, it was even was great in the 40km/h school zones. 60/70/80 all great too.

Dyno sheet.

Before and after the rebuild - Mike had done a lot of work to get it to 110 before.

I don't think it would have had that when I drove it in.

Can not believe I thought it went well before.

Well done, that's for sure. Thanks for stepping up with the dyno sheets. Feel free to share more specs :), no doubt a CB cam to go with those wedgies.
