What do you think?
Got a few bits so I thought I`d stick some on the oval. (taped)
What do you think?
I don`t know if it ever came on ovals due to the fact that oval trim is all alloy and have never seen this trim set in alloy.:thumb

well KDF i guess you weren't dreaming when you advertised them at that price. best of luck to you for getting it. i hope you do understand why i
said what i said. it wsa not meant as a full bitch. i just thought it was an excessive price.
i have been to europe and seen the price of cars and parts there. if i lived there i could not afford to own an old vw.
in australia standard stuff is cheap and i like it that way. being a lazy student still makes it hard to get the stuff i want as it is... (have you
priced performance parts lately?)

I Agree with KDFKing!!
I am relativeley new to this forum, but of late it has been leaving a very sour taste due to various comments made by people .
I know you may feel "cheated" by parts and cars going o/s, but what about the stuff we import? do you here the other countries getting up
us???
I know a lot of people got into VW's because they are cheap, but nowdays they are a collectable item and should be treated accordingly. Prices
will continue to rise and people will continue to pay top dollar.
I think people need to wake up .and realise that we live in a global
economy and if a part/car is in another country it really is no big problem.
We have a great VW community here in Aus, but if things continue that will slowly change and as KDFKing stated this is tarnishing our reputation and
credability overseas. Do you really want that????
A good friend will come and bail you out of jail.....
But a true friend will be sitting next to you saying "Damm that was fun!!!"

ian... as a general rule vw heads in australia are cheapskates.... myself included.
the vw scene is small and getting smaller, do you really want the vw scene here to be just 1500's and super beetles with whale tails and double
bubble guards because all of early cars and all of the steel panels have been shipped overseas?

here is my take on the situation.
making money is god. Dont get me wrong. but charging an ass load of money for parts is bad. I live in the US. and I think you screwed the guy on the
trim set.You selling the parts for that kind of price and then broadcasting it on here how much you paid, is wrong. What you just did was set a
precidence for everyone else to sell that crap for the same price. just becase someone will pay for it, doesnt make it right. I really want a set of
flash, but ill be damned if I'm gonna pay $5oo for a set. When Kustomkool asks me for an Eliminator shifter, I offer to trade for something of
equal Value, like a visor. I dont tell him $200 for it. What you did was whack. I hope you serve the same fate as the guy you sold that shit too.

Spot on!
I have never posted about all this OS stuff but you guys are right in saying that they are collectable cars.
Thus making them not cheap anymore.
If you want cheap cars with cheap parts go buy a Laser etc.
Vw parts are not cheap anymore and will only go up.
With such a big following there is a big demand for parts and most of all parts that make your car different from every one esles car.
Answer:
If you what something different you pay for it.
Just my 2cents worth

if you dont want your parts going overseas, then dont sell them. I understand that some of you do not want all of the Aaussie parts to leave
australia, But some people see the VW scene as more than that. Ill sell any one of you and Original EMPI eliminator shifter, or a GTV wheel, for the
GOING RATE of the US, because that is how much it is worth. Why would I do that? because it ias the right thing to do

Here here.. I'm with you Scott.
I always, ALWAYS, try to sell it into Australia first. If you think I am ruining VW for Aussies, then you stick around for 10 years and see what is
left at the current rate, and you'll be importing the shit back in and paying 5 times the price that some of YOU folks sold it for. Who pays in
the end? Everyone. You just get a fraction of the future price now..
Go ahead, sell it all, it doesn't worry me. Oh, and if you recall KDFKing, I U2U'd you wanting to buy that chrome off you, so don't
start bullshitting that I/ we weren't interested. Yeah, I wouldn't of paid $500US for it, and I don't know many that would've, so
good on ya mate, thats a good score.. Just don't go saying that I didn't make an attempt to buy it off you first, when you know, and I know,
that I did.

I really don't get it how some people constantly harass decent hardworking enthusiasts who sell items overseas and and yet these same people who
harass always buy stuff from overseas themselves....next time you want something from the US or Germany, send the seller an abusive e-mail for selling
instead of your hard earned cash! As the saying goes, you gotta pay to play...
a
p.s. I agree with Nathan, get out of VWs and buy yourself another car!

I agree with benneton, you guys selling all the OZ only stuff will only drive up the price when you want it back. If I sold you all EMPI wheels for
$600 bucks a piece, in 6 months id be buying them back for $700.

Just an honest question Scott, how many German Folks cars have ended-up in Japan if any? You guys build incredible cars, the sort of cars the Japs
love to purchase. I respect the amount of work/love/cash you bestow on your cars...truly an inspiration that keeps the Volkswagen scene alive!

its hard to say how many went to Japan, some of our members build car for the sole purpose of going to Japan. But I know what you are going to say,
"all of those rare parts or going overseas" Some cars, Like Quentin Dailey's 61 Rag, actually didnt go to Japan with alot of its parts,
EMPI popout hinge covers, albert mirrors, rack, and a few other tidbits stayed here, because he didnt want to find more of them. I think I could
safely say that over 15 cars have gone to Japan, but that doesnbt compare to the many, many that stayed here.

I'm not getting into any of the OS selling argument, a bit too much overheated debate going on over that in general.
However in reply to a couple of queries about whether the flashing trim was fitted to ovals, I have seen it fitted to two '56 models here in
Brisbane, one I know definitely by the dealer.

Dear benneton, when i u2u you back i was already informed of what they were worth so why waste both of our time by offering it to you when i only know
two well you werent going to pay that,!And im really sick of people like bennaton and thegermanfolks that preach like there all high and mighty when
everyone must know that they would have made therefair share selling parts from australia. And by the way thegermanfolk i wasnt
"braudcasting" the sale of the trims i was just confirming that they were mine from the previous posting.Anyway it all comes down to supply
and demand(yes thegermanfolk i dont push the prices up,but i wish i had that magical power),i really want a schwimmwagen but the price has trippled in
the last ten years because more people want them and they cost $60000US and if i want one thats what i have to pay(now if you dont understand that
than go back to grade 8 econimics)!!I would like to finish on this one note, that i really have hated posting with such arogant and very stupid
people(just the minority i might add)thanks Andreas!

stupid ideas IN THE FUTURE it is very possible it will reflect on all australian enthusiests when they are overseas! If this is your intention please
continue as this will only isolate all vw australian enthusiats from the worldwide vw scene(which in my opinion is very
sad)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
