Thanks Dave! That's really helpful for us newbies, hoping to get out to willowbank around Christmas.

It will be here before we know it!
For those people who have only ever run on an 1/8 mile,
please make sure your cars are properly wheel-aligned and safe,
especially those cars that are not road legal.
That means some caster up front and all wheels pointing forward along the same centre line.
It should go without saying that you do not have bump steer, or worn components!!
Most cars will be 20 to 30mph faster at the 1/4 mile marker, so your cars need to be stable at those speeds.
Another thing to consider is that some car's fuel delivery over an 1/8 mile will be fine,
but starve, or show lean over the extra load and distance.
So it may well be worth peoples efforet to either test on a 1/4,
or get on a dyno and make sure there are no hidden fuel delivery problems.
Above all, this drag racing should be fun!
So prepare well, and I look forward to see you all in Sydney!!

Provided suspension parts are in good shape,
a set of caster shims up front, and toe-in
and some toe in at the back, or at least never toe out.
Early cars with late gearboxes may need to shim the gearbox to the rear to get toe in at the back. This is because there are no slots in the spring
plates, and the gearbox case is a different length, which changes the toe.
Bit lower does help,
but only if caster is good, and the tie rods dont cause bump steer(=drop spindlse is a good option)

Started back at work today to find out that they have booked me to fly to Germany that afternoon.
Bugger, was hoping to see how the car went down the track.
Will have to do a Wednesday night now I guess.
I hope everyone enjoys it.
Will be looking forward to the pics and video's.

Hi All,
I hope race preparations are going to plan (finish the night before and hope it stays together?!).
Pre-paid driver and crew tickets will be issued at the gate when you arrive. There will be a register of names to also confirm who has paid. It is
important when you send in your entry to include the full name of every person being paid for. Sydney track officials look after the gate and I may
not be there to resolve any extra ticketing requirements.
Volkswagen Genuine Parts have again put together some nice driver bags with VGA goodies and you can collect these from the VWMA tent once you are
inside.
On Friday night we have the VW Pizza evening at Dino's Pizza (check the website for full details). Centre Management have kindly allowed the first 30
VWs to arrive for the night the opportunity to park in the shopping mall. There is a waiver to sign that exempts Centre Management from any damage to
your vehicle, but Dean has had many a car show there with no incidents. The evening starts at 7pm and goes through until 10pm. Spot raffles and prizes
will be given away through the night.
The RC PDNR Drag Racing club will be conducting a round of their championship during the Saturday event, and will also be hosting the VW RC racing
around 6-7pm. The club has graciously allowed the use of their high tech track equipment to run the VW RCs. Worth a look at what the PDNR club members
have built to go scaled down racing.
Remember it is BYO food and drink on Saturday evening, but the track caterer will stay open until 8.30pm to serve food for those not quite prepared to
cook their own. Food and drink are available for purchase right throughout the day.
NB: in case the weather looks nasty for the Saturday, a decision will be made on the Wednesday 22nd February to cancel. All competitors will be
contacted by email and text by 5pm that day. If you hear nothing by this time then the event will run as planned.
Please check the VWMA website for further info and details about the racing, and remember entries close Friday 17th February.
See you on the track.
Cheers
Craig Hughes
