The whole thing is a set up, to fire all of the high paid Australian workers and to take the company overseas to hire cheap labour. I knew this would happen the day part of Qantas was sold to overseas interests. I'm a bit astonished that it has taken so long to do it.

Ta Ta Qantas.

These engineers sat on their behinds when HEAVY MAINTENANCE sydney was shut down. They have priced QANTAS maintenance out of the market. The problem with QANTAS is their are to many LAMES meaning that the it is an upside down triangle with to many at the top. ALAEA have never supported any other union in the place, always back dooring deals for themselves. Again i feel sorry for the passangers stranded in all these airports around the world. As for LAMES you have killed the airline for everyone and you will be getting no support from me and most of the other AME's.

thanks mate for some great info this is why some unions get such a bad wrap, jobs for mates is there mantra and it hurts the whole system.

Come on guys, you can't blame Paddy for it. He just got confused and didn't realise it was the unions that are the ones that are supposed to strike.:lol:

At least Joyce has shown strong leadership, and that he is not afraid of a fight.....unlike our Prime Minister!

The important thing now, is to make sure that the 'Golden Goose' is not killed. Personal views and self-interest must be put to one side, so that Qantas can return to where it should be - THE WORLD'S BEST AIRLINE!

Um! He had to get the PM to help him out because he is too stupid to fix it.

And you be must very young, or have a bad memory. Qantas was once the envy of all other airlines.

Bagging Qantas is not going to do ANY good at all. What is needed is a positive outlook. We [Australia] cannot afford to throw away a company such as this.

I've watched with dismay, the 'Australian Manufacturer' being gradually 'done over' for a few decades. Hope it doesn't happen to Qantas, or any other good Australian company.

That's what Paddy is doing. Sending the work overseas.

It's a crap airline with crap service and you want the government to prop it up. That's comunism!

Qantas is f@#$ed,simple as that.
You either get in cheap labour from the non english speaking countries that work for $2 an hour,or send it overseas
Those slimy little bastards are taking over the world,so you may as well get used to it

Thats why I thoroughly enjoy whacking up my prices by 400% when they need my services, then go to the pub with the profits!
Its a vicious circle and I love it

I'm a qantas AME, working in heavy maintenance, i'm dead sick of numptys dribbling shit ,thinking they know all.. read up about Joyce moving QF assets into Jetstar Asia, leaving Qantas a pissing wreck. THIS is the job security issue. I've had enough of media brainwashed loudmouths.

I think your job security issue revolves around the fact that there are plenty of monkeys overseas willing to do your job for a handfull of peanuts.
As I reread this before posting, it sounds harsher than I wanted it to be, but what can you do?
