Satin Black for engine tin all the way. I Prefer billet parts over chrome.
I Once painted my engine Satin black with orange genny pulley and orange rocker covers. Looked reasonable.

as my mate thinks only to paint the bits you see..
I said he was crazy but he reckons he can save on paint n with the left overs he can paint up the brake drums..
I reckon he mad as he runs factory stoko skinnys

Hi
I always paint the tinware inside and out.. both sides...
doesn't matter if its seen or not...
it also protects against rust..
paint isn't expensive... lol
rust is... lol
I have stripped and painted My fan shroud a number of times..
I have a doghouse shroud I used originally, and it will be redone and refitted next winter... with a new doghouse oil cooler..

I have used High temperature paint which isn't shiny and then painted with clear over the top to make it shiny..
I have also used gloss red engine enamel too...
after looking back at those early photos the Red with lots of yellow looked good.. I thought..
I did think that there was too much yellow at times...
but the Red and Yellow really do look great... IMHO..
Yellow seems to be more difficult to spray...
I've tried different brands... but all seem difficult so its OK to use on hoses etc.. sometimes needing to be redone a number of times...
I've seen pink and blue fan shrouds and some of the hammertone blues looked OK...
but I think I'll stick to Red... lol
cheers
LEE
even though some of the paints say no undercoat is needed..
it really is needed for a good finish... and to stop chips etc..

I am so jealous 'cos I,ve just been rebuilding my engine and obviously you want it to look a lot prettier when it's all put back together so
everything has been spotlessly cleaned and polished and where I could it's all been resprayed but there is no way that a FI engine can look nice.
I'm afraid what with all the wiring and plumbing in of all the vacuum pipes ( I bought 2 metres and it wasn't enough!!) and other pipes and tubing
it still looks a mess. I was at one point very tempted to go to carbs but decided to persevere with FI in the end

I only like two (2) colours in the engine bay. It keeps it simple. I like the engine bay to be that of the car and 'black' for all the other stuff.
Black, IMO is the most practical. But do it how ever you like as you (or your friend) is the one who has to look at it and clean it. Here is a pic of
the engine bay in my race car.
