Been a while, but the WRX manual 1/2 cut arrived today from Brisvages. Let the fun begin. Engine and gearbox mounts are the same as the old unit, just
have to convert the gear linkage on the g/box from rod to cable which looks to be a simple job using the existing Spyder bellcrank/cable system. The
wiring is going to give me the shi...s but I'm running the original ECU and pollution gear..(boring) so it's just a matter of unpicking the
loom and pulling the right wires. Easier said than done I think!.
It's a race against time to have it ready for Nambucca.

Spent a few hours on the cut tonight. Engine and gearbox all disconnected and ready to pull. Spent most of the time diconnecting wiring loom plugs and
pulling the dash to get access to the rest. There are a LOT of wires there.......
Tomorrow evening:
Pull engine/gearbox, steam clean, remove power steering pump and A/C.
Replace throwout bearing and spigot bearing on clutch and flywheel.
Pull twin spot front brake calipers and rotors. (anyone need a set?) rotors need replacing.
Remove rest of loom.

The intercooler sits high so I'll either fit an aftermarket one or adjust the mounting on the original so it sits under the 2 rear grills. The
original is pretty small and being pushed for nice fresh air in the Spyder an aftermarket one might have the better legs.

Modified loom arrived today from Brisvegas, thanks to Al from Sunspares Subaru. See post in conversions section for info on Subaru loom service. Top
job done by Al.
I just have to lengthen a few wires that go to the Subaru gearbox for the VSS and reversing light switch. The ECU sits nicely behind the passenger

This is the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) supplied by Sunspares
that did the loom. It screws into the Subaru box speedo drive, it comes off Aust delivered Libertys.

Raising the engine 25mm gave me a bit more sump clearance and allowed the header to be fitted a lot easier. Wires...wires ...wires and more wires.

Yeahhhhhh, finished the cable shifter today. Just need to adjust it a small amount as it seems to be a bit stiff shifting into 5th and reverse. It
might be the bellcrank length.

Wiring will be complete tomorrow after I do a small loom for the 2 radiator cooling fans and the 1 intercooler fan. Do you think I can use an old
mechanical temp switch (bulb type) from a radiator setup to switch the intercooler fan? will it work on air temp if I slip it in the IC inlet ?

Yehaaaa, another milestone, I've mastered the dark art of auto electrickery. All fans are working as they are supposed to, well at
least the radiator twins with a forced earth switching signal from the ECU. The car has not running so there is no temperature to signal the relays
from the computer. The fans are "twin brush" so I'm running one set of brushes of each fan from one relay and the other set of brushes from the
other relay, this means there will be some degree failsafe if one circuit goes down.
