Thanks mate, happy to help out.
Cheers for everyone else who has enquired with us first - unfortunately it is impossible for us to stock every single item related to every model straight away as we have invested far more capital already than expected, and still don't have half of what we'd like to in stock.

So bare with us over the next 6 to 12 months as we reinvest our sales back into stock - the more we sell, the faster our product line expands. Whilst it is hard to compete with places like CIP1, we will continue to try and stay competitive (on price and most importantly service) to entice owners to buy from Australian stores. I've had the shoe on the other foot for many years (first as a DIY enthusiast, then as a resto shop having to purchase parts from suppliers)... so I can understand both sides.

Cheers
Al

boy you guys really get your guts twisted in knots hey! I am a business owner selling tools and workshop equipment and I got to say that at the moment things a pretty tough in OZ for all retail business, just look at Glenfords they went into receivership last month and word is they are being liquidated. Two other tool businesses went bust in SE Qld last month, one in SAlisbury area and one at the Gold Coast. And it's not a case of poor service or lack of customer care, I can assure you we do everything in our power to get customers set but sometimes things just conspire against you and things don't go as planned.

The shop in question should be congratulated for opening those 3 days between xmas and new year. Sure they dropped Luftmeister's ball but how many others did they get right?? A pity that we are quick to crucify someone for one bad thing yet little gets said for all the good things they do.

Remember that without most of the Australian businesses this forum would probably not exist and I would think that 90% of the shows would not be held as I doubt the VW clubs themselves would be able to support the shows without the CASH input from the many vw shops in Australia. When was the last time the USA shops pitched in to sponsor one of our shows???

As nils has said we don't have the luxury or a 250 million population to support these business so many have had to be very smart about inventory levels etc. Also, I am an importer as well, as old mate Harvey Norman has pointed out, as importers we are already 10% behind the eight ball as everything we import gets charged gst were as if an individual imports something below $1k value it is gst free.

So, sure buy stuff overseas now that the $ is on our side but beware, the danger is that if small businesses in Aust disappear then will be much much worse than having to pay higher prices.

so, there, that my soap box input.

and a bloody good soap box it is lou0060, here's an example to check out, look at any shoping centre that has a fruit shop and a Woolworths or the like, the big fella drops his prices so all the customers forget the service the little fella gave and rush off to the big bloke till the little fella drops outa business, then the big fella has no competition so he raises his prices, magic, but who is the looser?

You're totally right Donn, if I had the income and lived in a capital city I would do my best to support aussie business. But at this point thats the difference between driving my vw or having it as a long term project taking up space in the garage
Point I was trying to make is, that it's all good to talk about how bad parts can be to get hold of (and it true) but it's the nature of where we live, and I wouldn't trade it

Dasdubber - thats a great looking site by the way, will check out parts from you next I need something

I just had a experence with a well known racer in Australia, over a corse of about a week i emailed and phoned him twice each, he said he was different and would move on my enquiry, well today i have given up and will get my parts from CIP1, here is a copy of the email i have just sent him.
Hi XXX,
Sorry to have bothered you with my request for a set of sway bars for my car, you have not replied to any of my emails or phone calls indicating that you have a very good bussiness that requires no future growth, your real oposition is not in Australia but overseas, i was able to sorce the parts required and my emails were answered withinn 12 hours with very good freight costs, Regards,
XXXXXX XXXXXX
Just try to buy in australia, these people have not worked out that the service must be excellent, other wise people buy on price.

Yes , they MUST try harder to stay on top of the Buy Overseas
syndrome ...
Some one who is nice on the phone and have a smile on their voice...
or friendly emails...

The BIGGEST problem We have is that most VW Parts Businesses in Australia don't have a lot of employees...

Many have only 2-3 employees...
Some are a One Man business...

which makes it kind of difficult to reply ASAP when someone has just ordered 20 or 30 parts or $500+ worth of parts and they want them ASAP...

so, the email asking how much for 10+ parts [or less[ just have to wait until the CONFIRMED and PAID for Order is picked, packed and posted...

Usually, I am never in a BIG hurry for any parts, as I try to have them on hand before I need them..
[sometimes about 1-2 years before I actually Use them...

My thoughts... IMHO..

He'll probably tell you he sent it a few days ago - then 2 weeks later when you ring to find out what happened because it hasn't arrived, he'll tell you he sent it yesterday, and so on.

Don't expect an honest answer if you do get hold of him. Save yourself the grief in future and shop elsewhere.
