Thanks Jak for the Idea looks like a very tidy engine bay..... I have the long task of starting the collection of Subaru parts ahead of me. I have no
experience with them which is testing me in identifying my engine.... engine number didn't come up on Google..... I think from memory all that was
there is the number 823382... no prefix I will double check those numbers.

Hey Lou,
Dropped the engine out two days ago to really get to know this thing, Pressure plate had more hot spots than Hawaii and it just needed a general tidy
up. Dropped all the oil, fuel and water all to be replaced. Picked up the new oil filter oil and coolant today so just need to come see you so I can
get a tool that puts it all together ha.
I get my other new clutch back on Tuesday and will get it all back together by Wednesday........ Thursday morning I fly out to Hawaii for 10 days so
no racing till I get back on the 26th...
As soon as I get back I am back into it. On another note I have to sell my other 72 superbug when I get back as well. How did you go with your engine
drop?

I decided today whilst I wait for the clutch and Thursday to come around that I would rub back both beetles and paint them bright white....... I
can't shift the car as I don't have a car trailer so I did the next best thing..... got out the paint, I have only done the wings for the beetle I
am selling and then it was getting around dinner time and I didn't want to be spraying at that time just in case any of the neighbors could smell it.
So the moral of the story is it is going to be white............

Hi the car came from out near Ipswich and it was on ebay as someone has already said it was buy it now for $3000 and there was no bids I had arranged
to do a swap for the car even to the piont of arranging to met half way between Sydney and Qld to do the swap but the day before he pulled out as he
got a better cash offer. Not sure who you brought it off but the guy I was dealing with said he built the car and they had been trying to sort out
issues they were having with the suspenion as it had been modified a fair bit. I had never seen the car in person but was going to do the swap
anyway.
Any shots of the suspenion mods would be appreciated. Lots of luck with it.

It is nearly ready for sunday..... Just hosed it off before the photos.
Just small things left to do ie: Tyre Pressure, checking hose clamps, putting the rest of the fender bolts in (As per pics they were just sitting on
there with a couple bolts for paint)

Thank you a lot of 0430 starts in the morning with midnight bedtimes..... Still a long way to considering I havent been able to get it out on the
track which makes me nervous of any mechanical problems/setup etc will take time to rid of the bugs.
I think my wife has put wakefield on the calendar (Hopefully that means she has approved of it ha) will be fun fingers crossed nothing too major has
happened between now and then. Getting hold of car trailer is the hardest thing at the moment and I need to find a new clutch and pressure plate this
one will last only a few meets.
Cheers

Looks good in the all white I reckon Bud !!!
For windows the stuff you want is Lexan (aka polycarbonate) and altho there's a place in Morningside that can supply am stuffed if can remember their
name.
They're in an industrial complex that fronts onto both Lytton and Junction Rd - should be able to google using that (which doesn't work here in
China)

Heh - also just twigged... not turned a wheel yet, and already got sponsorship stickers !!!
Also chuck a blue rectangle sticker on bonnet marking where the battery is... CAMS scruit's bound to ping you on that one, even tho have a clearly
marked kill switch...

Lexan is polycarbonate, Perspex is acrylic.....just to clear that up Sides.......use Lexan not Perspex for windows

Thanks a lot guys... yeah the sponsorship really came in handy with the coin side of things........ sales pitch went something like this....... people
and cameras only watch 3 people, the person in front.... the person at the rear and the person that crashes and I think that I have two out of three
covered!
I wasn't sure about the battery sticker as the battery is directly under the isolation switch where the triangle is, so wasn't sure weather I needed
to put another one?
I will try and google that business hope all is well in china

Bud, you are a machine......
not sure where you get the time. (mine still on blocks and engine not out yet!!)
Is that a crack in the case in the third photo?
I'll give you a call on Saturday and see how you are progressing. Also, I think one of my customers has just done a Forester motor. I'll ring him
and see what bits he has....

there`s a couple of good places around here for Polycarbonate, "Industrial plastics" & "Foremost Plastics"
both of them used to be quite close to me, one was on the corner of Lytton Rd & Taylor St
& the other is in the in the industrial area on the cnr of Lytton & Junction
But i can`t remember which one is which, even tho i drive past both of them probably 3 or 4 times per day, every day

Funny, my Subi guy who has been racing and building them for decades wants me to do the exact same thing with my sump.
Internal baffles with inward opening hinges to stop oil surge under hard cornering.

Thanks for the replies... coming alonng heading out this arve to do more work (splitting the case for a bit of a rebuild....) Lou, sounds good about
your mate hopefully you get your engine out soon! Where do I find the time? late nights early mornings ha. I am lucky a good mate who does most of the
mechanics used to work Mercedes in Germany and is one switched on guy!
It is just excess squeezed sealant in the case join which makes it look like a crack
The baffles are a good idea from research I have done in regards to cornering etc Joel.
Thank you for the info on the Polycarbonate I will do some googling of those places and call them!
Oil Issues...... I am going to put a large external oil cooler with extra long lines for more capacity as this thing only holds about 4 litres which
isn't enough when driving hard.....
Will update some more pics of this arves progress soon.
Thanks again for all the good advice
