and when Dick Johnston was winning they loaded His Falcon up with lead...??
I used to watch every race back then.. they were televised in Tamworth on NEN9 but Not on NBN3 Newcastle [or its translators]
I had a high Tamworth antenna and booster but the picture wasn't good so I used to get a friend in Tamworth to tape it and send it to Me on Monday...

Nowadays I can't tell a Ford from a Holden... lol
stupid color schemes..

PS: at least Our V8s don't look like the cars racing on the Ovals in the USA - Ford GM Toyota Chrysler all look the same and don't even have
headlamps or taillamps etc... LEE

What is a "production car"? The GTs, toranas, monaros, they were all homologation specials. After 1972 theyre certainly havent been production cars
in the top category of this country. They went to Group C, and then Group A
Thats just the thing, it wasnt great races as such unless you call people winning by umteen laps a great race. Brock won it by 6 laps in 79! First and
second rarely finished on the same lap, let alone first and 3rd.
Super Tourers had all sorts of makes and were the official touring car race formula in this country for a year or 2 but went broke. Remember they had
the "real" long weekend date and the V8's had the other. People stayed away in droves. The teams couldnt race $20 sponsorship so it died in the
arse.
Sad fact is that the vast majority of aussie race goers are either ford or holden bent and they have to have V8s. They want to be able to scream out
for burnouts and harrass women to show their upper torsos (I dont mind that bit when the girls oblige ) If the rules didnt change to allow other makes to build fantasy cars then ford would have to drop out. I
dont know how a front wheel drive V8 Taurus would go. It would have turned into a one make series.
