Ok. I just spent 40 minutes typing a reply till I hit Tab to just lose it all. So needless to say this post will be more consice, direct and less verbose overall.

I loved to old forum!
I would like to believe this forum has potential.
(My lost post was far more diplomatic)
Anyhow,

Whats the difference between the two?
Very little infact. Except the crap I have to trawl through to gain the slightest whiff of enjoyment that used to addict me to the previous.

For those that care... (For those that don't skip this paragraph) ... I have been on a teaching (Secondary Geography & Drama) internship. Over the last five years I have had no money, no life, no friends and no Volkswagen. Finally the minister of finances let the purse strings flail to buy a crap orange 71Baja - "The Dog-O-War". Slightly before that I was told about the previous forum and since have distributed about 250 flyers onto local VW's, (some twice he he!, sorry) and spent literally every night for five months glued to the computer. "Can the crap on TV, I'm going on the net till 3am!" Anyhow I nearly ended up where Grey57's going now. The my internship came along.

10 weeks, two teeth, one canned employer, 6.30am ~ 10.30pm / 3am days planning lessons to only be revised and regected if they wern't ignored and most devistating thing of all the Dog started leaking (Marking I prefer) his territory everywhere. 10 litres of 90hypoid isn't cheap, then again neither is a trans. Week 10 the dog didn't make it and I was jammed between kids screaming in the back of the Ford.

So now with the web reconnected, phone reconnected and viruses out of the way I was back. I'd stayed off long enough, earn't a high distinction and now I can enjoy the fruits of my labour (return to AVD's) by sitting down to enjoy,

..."What's this crap!"... Bitching, back biting, sniping and screaching. I thought Id left this at school.

This forum is a C- cause I have to sift through bullsh!t.
It can be am A easily I reckon.

Now I have met Spook. Doubt I'd cross him and in the short time I spent with him I know something. He has strong opinions which he's willing to compromise with but only through discussion. The last thing I would do is deny him that. Mistake #1. Need I add that his diplomatic skill arn't well honed but then again were not politicians here but ~ordinary~ people.
Now I don't know Andrew, but in his situation where Brads server is being compromised (and our fourm) I would have probably have done the same thing, just mabey not the way he wen't about it. Mistake #2. Isn't 20/20 hindsight a wonderful thing. But to perpetuate personal debate on and on and on - Mistake #3 and it's sh!tting me to tears!

I love the internet only for this forum. It's also handy for sourcing teaching info too but mostly I miss relaxing in front of the computer, sharing ideas, learning new stuff and hopefully teaching a little of what I know.

One day I'd like to develop a patch, cap, cup, coaster, cooler (eh! Dave) or stickers, somthing that identifies us and we can be proud of but right now, I'd barely recommend it.

I would like to see the title 'admin' change. It's inpersonal and dismissive and frankly I have the 'push me, shove you' that admin implies. I reckon the pic attachment feature is great. What is also great is that Jim is still there somewhere.

More importantly what I ask if we can 'please' leave all this behind.
I agree whole heartedly with Jay, Colin, Type82e and Empi. A+ to you all.

The Bronze.
Special thanks to Ben Durie for helping me dog with his incontinence.
By the way, I don't teach English, your children are safe.

Bronze,

nice pic and congrats on the high distinction! :-)

On the title thing, I call myself a system administrator because I am one. I used to be the President of SAGE-AU, the System Administrator's Guild of Australia.

http://www.sage-au.org.au

I don't care what my title is, but what I do is system administration, in the same way that someone who does your tax is an accountant. ATM, I'm happy to leave moderation right alone!

Anyway, welcome back.

Facts

Just so no one gets the wrong idea. The time to run the tech side of this place is my own and I give it freely. I could not do it without Andrews help as he is in a league of his own when it come to confussing me with geek speak, but the code works well, for this I thank him.

The space this forum takes up is on a server which I own. But it is funded by Mick Motors, without who this place would not be free from adds.

Apart from that I would just like to say ...

Excellent!! I seem to be sensing some degree of closure on this issue, and it's about time too.

We've had a bit of a bumpy ride around here lately, which is bound to happen from time to time in any situation where so many different people come together.

Spook, I hope we haven't lost you mate. Thanks for pointing out a problem, but I believe it is now fixed. It may not be what the members decided upon months ago, but it a solution that works and will ensure the longevity of the forum. Hopefully VW freaks will be communicating freely on this forum for many years to come, you included. :D

While I'm here, I'd like to thanks Jim, Brad, Andrew, the other moderators and our sponsor, Mick Motors for what is shaping up to be an excellent forum. :thumb

Jay, the forum needed saving? You gotta be kidding.
700 members & the highest posting ez board on the web. Doesn't sound too crook to me. No doubt other forums wish they were falling apart like that.
The ads were a minor annoyance, & if you installed a pop up stopper (like me) they weren't even that.

But, we have moved. OK I can live with that.
Believe it or not I do appreciate that Andrew is ironing out the bugs.
But, if you think I am going to elevate him to deity status because of it, I got bad news for you.
If you think that's not what he wants read his posts.
"I" created this & "I" created that.

JIM GOW CREATED THIS FORUM, ANYTHING AFTER THAT IS AUXILLARY.

If Andrew wasn't sorting the bugs, someone else would. Computer geeks are 20 cents for a metric tonne.

Col, oh yeah, things have been FIXED. That's one of the few things I am sure of.

Speaking in the first person is correct english if the 1st person is the one who has made changes, Andrew made them so he is entitled to speak of himself as I.

In regards to computer geeks being readily availible, what a crook of horse poo. Jim tried to get people to help out but NO ONE except Andrew and Myself even offered the time of day to the thread when it came to the crunch. There were a few smaller offers that would of never supported the bandwidth of this place and that was it. If you have so many geeks hidden around the place then you are more than welcome to replace those who are spending endless hours keeping this place technically sorted with some of your readily availible geeks that are fluent withe the req'd PHP code and have access to a free webspace and around 10GB of badwidth a month.
If you don't and you are just sprooking off then get over it, Andrew has apoligized for the way he unknowingly did business and has been MAN ENOUGH to get on with other issues. Take a leaf from his book and if you are leaving , leave, if staying stay but for crying out loud GET OVER IT !!!!!!!!!!!!

Oi!

We'll have no abuse or violence directed at other members on this forum, thanks. I know the pain of being retrenched. I was retrenched from my first real job, and it's nothing to laugh at.

Let's get back to Veedubbing.

Andrew

ps. Brad, how about we untop this topic now?

That's rich from a guy who called the entire membership moaning fish wives not 2 weeks ago.

Don't ever speak for me again Andrew.

As for the other young fella, as most people here know, you want to run me over, you'll need something a hell of a lot bigger than a type 3 :D
