So hows it running after the valve clearances have been done and new plugs?.Im running a CB Performance pump thats 2-4psi I think. It was recommended to me by Rod Penrose to replace my Crappy one from CIP1.Its a pump with with a set pressure for carbs and comes with an inline filter.I changed to an electric to keep by engine looking clean but was recommended to stay with a stock pump.Ring Rod Penrose direct for the pump or PM him.regards Jason

It's runnung sweet right now but time will tell. I'm hoping it stays that way cos I'm sick of changing plugs. If they keep fouling up I might consider stepping up a heat grade in plugs and hope that solves some of my woes.
Thanks Snitz for the info about the fuel pump. I'll look into it. Cheers Mate.

have the float levels been checked as every set of hpmx's I've pulled apart are way of the mark for what is required , stock pump should be fine ..what size jets and how many turns on mixture screws ? are the idle bypass screws all the way in ?

The float levels were way out. The guy took a photo to show me before he adjusted them. When he finds issues with carbys and other components, he tends to take photos for his records and future reference.
Main jets increased from 115 to 125, air correctors reduced from 200 to 185. This improved the power mixtures from 3.9 to 5.8% CO. Cruise mixture is now 0.7% CO. Idle jets reduced from 5.5 to 4.8%. Idle mixtures improved from 11% to 8.5% on light to mid throttle. I think this is still on the the rich side though. Don't know how many turns on the mixture screws, haven't tried to count them or check the idle bypass screws.
So it lasted about 50-100 miles with new plugs before started to miss and backfire again. It's a lot better than it was but still not 100%. I guess I'll try hotter plugs next but only got about 200 miles tops out of last 2 sets of iridium plugs.

I got volksfactory to do the valve clearances. They're close and easier to get to.
