Just bought what will hopefully become our next rally vehicle:

A Mercedes Fintail/Heckeflosse. 2.2L straight 6, 4 speed auto (in the 1960's!),power steering more details when we bring it home in a couple of weeks but very excited by the purchase, always wanted one of these!

Hi,The Auction starting at $1200 hadn't ended as eBay cancelled it prematurely and placed an account restriction on my account for an unknown reason (still being resolved). As a result of this restriction, I am not allowed to list items for auction and can now only do buy it now with best offer - so please place your best offer. This is as frustrating for me as it is to those who were watching previously.Hope this helps.

Hi baybuscamperkid,

I too am on the short list for next years rally, hopefully will get our two cars in (have not purchased yet).

For new comers to the rally, any tips?

Any mandatory gear we should take.

Lookin forward to a great adventure.

I have crossed Australia solo on my dirtbike, it will be a nice change to do it this time with people :tu:

It is good fun doing it with a big group of people instead. Mandatory equipment:

esky
pop-up tent (while they create much laughter when being packed up the first couple of times, 1 minute to set up/pack up each night is SO worth it!)
basic repair stuff (radiator stop leak extra oil etc)

If you get in you'll get a good list of everything you will need, these are just a few things that really stood out to me.

Would be an interesting trip.

That's the Route :)

We're excited to announce we've just gotten approval! We'll be known as Suus Cruising this time around and we've already got ourselves a 1965 Mercedes 220S Finny to do the run :D

Great car - I had one in the 1980's - very reliable, solid, stable; not very quick, but its average cruising speed can be surprisingly high. Being a bit bulky, a good set of fresh shock absorbers is a good investment.

This is a bit of fun....

Always wanted to do one of these like a 57 chev. Two tone, dumped with it billet wheels. Awesome ride!
