Aren't GoPros excellent!
Here's a bit of in-car from my oval. The view gets interrupted briefly by a grey Superbug with some lunatic at the wheel about half way through

Hi
Great footage guys, its good to see how other people attack each corner and what gears they are using.
David's bug runs a stock 3.88 1303 transmission, I found that 2nd was too low for last corner onto the main straight and 3rd was too high, coming out
of that turn I was only doing 3,000 rpm so it was under where the motor makes power.
Sorry if I upset other K&L lovers but boofhead and I have regular talks about such things, you guys got caught in the crossfire, he's going to
leave you guys soon and have 1/2 a Superbug, he just need to go all they way and get struts make his car complete.

heres my footage. The oil all over my windscreen is from some vintage dude in an old Oval on Dunlops. He was going hard for a single port engine
though
I think I need to drive my car a bit harder, maybe go back to 2nd gear for the fishhook & coming onto the straight. I also have no idea why I
insist on changing into 4th gear for a split second on the back straight.
Fun day though

CT's car is VERY fast considering the HP he has (not) got.
I am serious!
Check all the names on the results with less weight and more HP!

the transmission in my blue sports sedan also runs a 3.88 r&p - 1.125 top gear - 23.5" tyres . just checked on the gear ratio computer and I was
going through the kink at the end of the main straight full noise @ 7000rpm doing 180kph .

A very well sorted car, spot on race lines, and accurate almost easy driving style = fast times.

It was good to see everyone else' videos.
Wayne, your sports sedan looks like a lot of fun. You really have to grab it by the neck and tell it whose boss!
Gearbox wise I now have a 3.88 R&P. It was a big change after having a 4.375 for years. I made the change mainly to suit freeway driving. But I
was hoping to be able to use second gear at some race tracks to make driving more fun. With the 4.375 it was faster not to change into second coming
on to the straight at wakefield park. The 3.88 R&P hurt the quarter mile times. At the VWMA Sydney drags I was crossing the line in third and only
just managed a 14.9 where the car's quickest quarter is a 14.6 with the 4.375 R&P.
Thanks to Club Veedub and the officials for putting on the event. They sacrifice time so we can have fun
Judging by the puddle of oil under the flywheel that was leaking out of my car when I put it back in the garage after the long drive back; I think
it's time for a rebuild.

Thanks JVL. I love the way the car handles. It's not sophisticated. It only has T3 rear springs, tiny swaybars, off-th-shelf bilstein shocks and a
pretty straight wheel alignment with very little neg camber.
The most influential mods are:
1. Drop spindles (not the soft CB ones) which keep the front-end soft so it transfers weight to the front and makes the tyres work. It turns-in super
aggressively. Look how early I can get on the gas.
2. The drop spindles widen the front track slightly.
3. The small 195/50R16 Yokohama ADVAN A050s lower the car and also grip really well. But because they're round shouldered they're really forgiving.
I keep them narrow and use the softest compound possible (G/S) because the car is so light and under-powered it's hard to get the tyres up to the 60
degrees required to make them work. The tyres are now 3 years old and aren't even half worn and are still capable of PB times even in the cold like
the VW Nationals.
I bought big springs, big swaybars, got the arms bent for more camber.... but that stuff sits in the cupboard.
My 2 cents on the handling.

Custom Bugs and Buses made my drop spindles.
Mike used to have a process where he'd take 2 standard VW spindles and make 1 dropped spindle.
I tried the CB Performance ones briefly but the steering arms are too weak for this application (better not say anymore).
