It's also why years starting 19.. were in the 20th Century. A century is an 'instance'. The first century was from 1-100 inclusive, the second
century was 101-200, the third was 201 to 300, and so on. The 20th was 1901-2000, and the current - the 21st - is 2001 to 2100.
Dave you a right - so long as no cuts overlap! You can cut a pizza into 8 slices with four movements of the cutting wheel. You can cut a square cake
in a 'noughts and crosses' pattern with four cuts, and make nine slices!
