Its not the walla that make it a shed or whatever
its the roof materials, anything hard roof, like tin, corro, trim deck whatever over 10 sq foot has to be council approved
Even a carport , they have no walls has to go thru the wombats at the local rip off centre (council)
Approval for my shed ,is $500 regardless of size, so i went huge, its dearer than approval for the house ....
The last council i was in wanted approval for a hard roofed walkway,2 M wide 4 M long, was even the plastic/fibreglass coro roof, but was a hard roof
Even approval for a bird aviary, 3 M x 8 M
Some pergolas go thatched roof get around council that way, and some are under the 10 sqft area
Just be careful with the council , you can be fined for unapproved stuff, they can make you pull it all down
Many councils dont do building certifications nowadays its all threw private certifiers as it voids councils of any future liabilities
You build it, it causes injury for whatever the reason, youll be liable
Not saying it happens, but theres too many people that want the fast road to money and they will sue anyone for any reason to get it
It crazy out there, do it once do it right ,poor man pays twice

My Dad came over today... He appealed to my lazy side  . So now we'll just raise it up... but i'm taking a section of wall out from under my house so that I can park my other car.

Our council said we can build carports with no approval... he said as soon as you put walls on though it became a dwelling... I dunno, thats just what he said lol... I believe many councils forget what their real role is and can go a little overboard with telling the ratepayers what they can and can't do.

one place I live in for a while had a driveway too narrow to even fit the car to get to the crapy garage at the back.

the mirrors just crunched against the house and the fence on the other side

only one of my friends with a 2000 hyundai could only just get through.

My mate and I who lived there had to park in the gate across the foot path.

at least you could get in your driveway.
