Had to pass on the radio. I can't believe the prices they are pulling, roughly between $300-700, for a really good one. Blaupunkt "Frankfurt" or
Telefunken "Auto Super" 6 Volt models for my 56 are worth that much. I was recently given an 1968 VW dealer accessorys catalogue from the same
dealer my 56 was sold at new. the prices make you cry! $9.00 for a rear venetian blind, fitted. $69.00 for a new VW radio, $10.00 for mud flaps
fitted and sunvisors $13.00 fitted.
Have a look at what were paying for this stuff now.
So if you see any Good condition Blaupunkt "frankfurt" 6 Volt radios like this going cheap let me know!

Wow what a busy couple of days......i rang the guy thats doing my body work on Tuesday about lunchtime to tell him i'd gathered most of the repair
panels we needed & so i drove over to his place in my splitty(any excuse to drive her!!)with the back full of all the repair bits,just to show him
how cool they were!!!!.He said he should be able to start on her pretty soon & that he'd ring the beadblaster to see when they can fit us in.It
turns out they had an opening for Thursday(today)which sounded cool as usually its afew weeks wait so we thought ..yep lets do it...so the last 1
& a half days we've been completely stripping everything off her & getting her ready for the beadblaster which is where i've just come back
from dropping her off at!!!!YAH..............................so the major work is about to begin$$$$$$$$$ |

Needless to say it takes a long time..
My hold up now is not taking the stuff to be chromed sooner....I was asking if there was anything I needed to be doing...then when it came time to
start putting things back on they realised what needed to be done...They have been restoring a lot of other VW's as well as Bel...so guess it's hard
to keep up with what needs doing ahead sometimes
Hmmmm, did that make sense? Oh well
Mandie you'll have to start taking pics for us to see the progress

I can't believe how quickly she was stripped back.....Bel was done by hand and took so long to take back to bare metal like that...and a heap of $$$
due to the time it took
p.s. My pop outs haven't arrived but got some cool fog lights 2 weeks ago from the same guy in the States....I emailed him asking for a potal number
of the parcel...He replie today saying that he'd found a better pair and has sent them off...should be here any day now :bounce:bounce
Sorta wish he'd emailed me that info though...I was beginning to worry they'd gone missing

Yeah it basically took one day for the beadblasting,she looks so much better than the various different colours she was & all the rust spots
standing out so much!!!!!!

It was when they stripped Bel's paint off that they realised the bad shape her body was in....None of us say it from the surface.....but all better
now
No idea when she'll be finished.....
Seeing the chromed parts weren't ready we didn't visit but rang....They have her engine and exhaust system back in and painted up....I'll drop in
next week with the chrome and take more pics
Hmmm...then it's getting the RagTop happening...headlining in...and fitting carpets I reckon a few more months....
But before the DOVW :thumb

i was drinking 15year old pomerol from france (a bottle from 2002 is between 30-80euros a bottle..so you can imagine what this stuff is worth!!)

umm, it's monday morning here, and i leave on thurs morning, and finish work on wednesday afternoon. so tonight, tomorrow, and one in the airport
(caus the plane leaves early) and then i'll sleep for the 7-10hr flight over there.
can't wait...sun, summer, and beautiful.....scenery!!!
