Actually yeah that'd be grouss too! We need little nano-bots that go into the bloodstream and just burn fat that they find. They need to be careful that they don't overheat the body. Ideally, they grab some fuel, head to the surface layers (skin), combust there, and head back for more fuel. This would allow us to go skiing/boarding in t-shirts and shorts (my preferred attire) finally! (Can you tell I'm from Melbourne?) This would solve the problem of obesity: you just need to give the 'big-boned' people some sort of cooling mechanism (ie - move to Melbourne). Eh, actually, um... Melbourne's probably not cold enough. Maybe Tassie?

Ya don't need a lot of people to have fun. Besides, Melb's not that small. And, isn't Ballarat the largest inland city?

Yeah well, the weather. The rainforests are nice when it's wet.

While I'm at it... anyone know what this means?

Aurels-Computer:~/Builds aggri1$ g77 binmerge.f -lm -lc
binmerge.f: In program `MAIN__':
binmerge.f:134:
READ(nfil,REC=NREC,END=6,ERR=98)(DATA(K),K=1,NDATA)
1 2
Conflicting I/O control specifications at (1) and (2)
Aurels-Computer:~/Builds aggri1$

Got me stumped.

Strangely, (considering it's wet here) a mate of mine was saying as how it's the QLD cars that are all rusted out. Maybe there's often winds coming from over the ocean, carrying salt? I guess humidity doesn't help though does it?

EDIT: oh I just saw the pooey forum move the (1) and (2) to the start of the line. They were under REC and END.

I love warm weather too. Nothin' like a 40degree day with a hot dry northerly blowing strong. When your eyelids feel like they're frying it's warm enough. I was happy in Adelaide summer two years ago. Got there: 40. Next day: 42! Yeah. Like I said, I like shorts and t-shirts.

That code stuff was from a mac (not a real one, it's using crap-os X, some Unix crap). Does that matter though? (gcc 3.3, f77 version 3.4.1).

naah, nothing to do with avd, I just use that name everywhere, so I only have to remember it once!:) My bank loves that kind of efficiency.

I was actually trying to compile some code I got from NASA. To do with ephemerides. For a Uni project. I'll be executed if I can't make it work (OK, that was an exaggeration).

Hey, the Tomorrow people thread is winning, lets get busy. (They've got 9 pages, here there are only 8 (with my settings)). EDIT: Oh cool, it's 9 now - barls' post did it!

Thanks nick. You mean a compiler setting of some kind? Or a setting in the broader sense (like bash being pooey)?

Would zsh or something make any difference?

Um I wonder what happened in the world today? SBS news (which our house watches) is on now - 6:30pm AEST. I'm missing it! OH NO!

Hmmm, thanks. The thing is, (1) and (2) are both on the same line... ie:-

READ(nfil,REC=NREC,END=6,ERR=98)(DATA(K),K=1,NDATA)

is all one line.

EDIT: the 1 is under the R in REC, and the 2 is under the E in END.

Well, I just downloaded this source (it's fortran 77) from a NASA site, and want to compile it. I don't care about the code itself. I wish that these Unix people could just distribute runnable programs instead of source! :cussing But anyway, binmerge is supposed to combine ephemeris data files. testeph.f is supposed to make sure the files are OK, and contains subroutines that extract data.

I don't know anything about programming though!:(

We're catching up - and you nice people are legitimately helping me with a problem!:)

i can write HTML and Visual Basic and a miniscule amount of java im just trying to work out using basic techniques what would be wrong. promlem is i dont know how this coding works. all i can work out is that somthing is conflicting with (1) and (2). the maths of it is wrong somewhere as it says that there are too many elements fot the array of (1) at (2). are u sure this is working code and not a work in progress? perhaps consult vanderaj he is down with the funky shite regarding code.

well I just noticed that all other 'nrec's in the document are in lower case: is the following statement true:

nrec=NREC

? Maybe I'll try that this evening. (The mac's at home, not here).

Charmed hey barls? Hmmmm? Where's that sceptical looking head icon thing when you need it?

Good old html coding. I remember learning a bit about that when frames were just being developed - ie - when Netscape 1 was normal, and only new versions could do those fancy frames. How things change. How about LaTeX? Might need that for the thesis! Yikes.

I liked the st. pat's (?) day Simpsons the other day. That's a good one.

I'm not at home now though, so won't be watching any Simpsons this evening...

Something smells like smoke in here. Not rubber or bad-smoke, like a nice smoke smell. I wonder what it is?
