So next Wednesday night I'm hoping to take the POS to the track.... And for the first time with the M&H front runners and cheater slicks fitted up to the ERCO's.... Never run with tyres like this before (ie: round and very light), so I have question for you all.... Bare in mind that I really don't have the transaxle (it's a close ratio TRANSFORM built trans with Super diff, HD side plate and 4.12 R&P) or axles (riffled stockers) for burnouts.... Not the most ideal setup, but it's all I got.... And the car/me prolly wouldn't/couldn't do a burnout anyway...

But the simple question is..... What sort of tyre pressures should I be starting with?

I allways run High pressures. For the first run about 17psi then drop to about 15 psi. If its still spinning ill keep droping. Last year at Warwick I was down to 12psi (Henry runs 12psi all the time). In the front I run 21psi. Every one has there own opinions on this but I feel comfortable with these. It feels too slopy at the topend with any lower that 15 for me.

A bit of slip and wheelspin will reduce the strain on the box Simon, and 20psi with a good diff is better than getting a tenth or two from 12psi but sitting in the pits with a cactus diff.

Heard that Dave..... It's all just a T&T for me currently.... Still haven't had a clean set of numbers yet... Once that has been done, I'll get a little braver with the setup.

I'm totally stoked with the score Wayne.... This will go along way to making the driveline near on indestructible... But now of course I need to figure out how to get this into basically stock pan car, with the bare minimum of cutting.... I want to get the car lower while I'm at it, but really want to stay all steel too.... But I'm not adverse to a bit trimming....

Open to suggestions and any images you guys might have to help with this new upgrade.

Remember also that not all tyre gauges are created equal so it's more important to set it to what YOU like and feel safe with - H

Interesting what you say about tubes Henry.... You run slicks to though don't you, not the DOT cheaters?.... Is there much difference in how they behave?

I'm with Henry. Tubes make around 2-3 psi difference in your set up pressures. With tubes I used to run around 12 psi in the rear, also IRS but stable in the deep end if your tracking straight.

So Simon, spill the beans on the bus box with swing conversion. Yours?

Yep.... Just bought it Mat.... I hear the Folts axles are exy to replace, but I doubt that will ever be a problem for me.... The rig was built a few years back, but never used, so if this is true, then I've stumbled on a pretty good deal!..... Now I just need to get it here.... The gent I bought it from runs a VW Shop in Seattle, and he's crating and shipping it to LA for me for nothing.... Gonna chuck it in a container with a mates recently purchased pre-runner.

Cool as mate, the prerunner that is. Your trans is ok too ;)
The problem with the Folts axles (I'm sure you know this but I'll say it just in case) is that if an inboard uni or axle breaks, the wheel is only held on by the spring plate that has no lateral strength. Your wheel goes sideways, breaks or bends the spring plate, may steer the car??? and nearly always will take out the guard and rear bodywork. ..... ouch
