I have just posted 1 extra video . No-3 watch as I attempt to do a 3rd gear burnout to warm the tyres , only to slip and overheat the clutch . The
oval launches really well but the clutch slips very badly in 3rd and 4th gear , and the oval still runs a 10.5 sec pass .

g'day Nick , hows everything going with the new shop mate . The oval is a totally different car to drive now . No longer fighting to keep it in the
same lane when I get off it and feels so much safer now . The 4-wheel drum brakes are a bit of a concern though . At 130+ mph they tend to vib_ra_t_e
a little .
How are you progressing with the junka .... you better get that thing cranking mate , cause I am comming to get ya !! Only kidding mate .... looking
forward to catching up at Portland . Take care dude .

The new shop is awesome but chewing up all my time, and by the looks of it mostl of 2008.
We have been working 7 days a week trying to get a few cars ready for Portland.
The Junka will not be there and is WAY off and in more than just a few pieces.
I must look after the customers first so that means I miss out.
I hope to get it together for Warwick and make it up for a race or two.
See you at Portland.

Man !! Great work Wayne ! We are all mad ? the time and effort for a sport that is over that quick !
Once you work out that clutch and start line and maybe a line lock for burnout (helps let clutch to lock up becouse tyre's are gripping on sticky
track ) those 9's will come .
Will be good to catch up at Portland . I will bring Warwick dvd's down for you .
Again great work mate !
Nick , put that junka together !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks Pete , I really didn't get it together on the night . I ran the first 2 runs thinking I was on high boost , but since I changed the plumbing
to the wastegate the boost controller works now in reverse . I realised this and got so excited after running 10.5secs on low boost that a rush of
blood to the head made me try a 3rd gear burnout instead of 2nd for the 3rd run . My method of thinking was that I really needed to get some heat into
those back tyres to get grip with the extra power on high boost . All it did was slip the clutch and overheat it , hence the lack of grip in 3rd and
4th gear . In the last run I launched the oval harder than I ever had previously , I dont know what rpm's I was using but the shift light was on and
it was set at 7500rpm . As it launched it immediately came on boost very strong and really did catch me by surprise . I held 1st gear way too long .
Looking forward to Portland and looking forward to catching up with you once again .
AND I WILL SECOND THAT PETE !! NICK , GET THE JUNKA TOGETHER !!
come on mate , you have 4 whole days ......and nights !!

bringing the WPVW turbo oval back to Warwick drags
after gathering parts for two and a half years, I am reassembling my turbo oval for Warwick 2010.
The new engine combo is a VW Type-4 2868ml turbo injected engine using a new billet 82mm stroker chev journal crank, a new set of Pauter X-beam 5.5"
conrods, 105.5mm chev pistons with type-4 cylinders, straight-cut steel gear set, WPVW turbo grind cam, Pauter pro-series type-4 end port race heads
53x41, Pauter 1.4 roller rockers, Autocraft dual tapered pushrod set, T-60 Garrett turbo, 4x 1680cc methanol injectors, Aeromotive billet fuel pump
& regulator, E-85 race fuel.
With this combination I hope to achieve close to 500bhp @ the wheels.

HELL YEAH. Can't wait to see and here this beast run at Warwick. Wayne are the roller rockers the new ones Don has started doing runs of again? If
they are and there self oilers ie drilled through to the roller tip be aware that some sets have broken already from normal use in mild engine builds
And running heavy duty single springs.
This is my Volkswagen, there are many like it, but this one is mine. Without me my Volkswagen is useless, without my Volkswagen, I am useless.

The "Pro Series" Pauter rockers that I have are a totally different arm
to the ones used in VW type one, and also VW type 4 heads.
Waynes will be the same as mine, since the rocker stud area for each cylinder,
is identical no matter what the bore spacing.
For Pauter arms to fail with a "mild engine build", and "heavy duty single springs", there
must be a porblem with arms seizing on shafts, or loss of valve control.
I'd like to hear the whole story...something does not add up.
Type 4 exhaust rockers do have a quite extreme offset,
when compared to almost any other engine type,
so this can contribute to failures with the roller tip design.
The 1.6 ratio arms I have, use over 620lbs of spring at full lift, and over 200 runs with 8400 limit,
and the 1.4 arms(exhaust) prior to this were used in speedway with zero failures.

Hi from Norway/Europe and thank you for making this excellent project thread. I have just finished reading it My car is quite similar to yours, street driven, turbo, full weight, cage, T1 gearbox etc etc. Mine is a
67 and with a 2332 ccm engine, DTA ECU, E85 and 371 WHP @ 17 psi of boost. I`m using E85, no intercooler, nitrous, water/meth inj.
When you increased your HP you started having trouble with your trans and I noticed that you use a very hefty pressure plate in combination with a
sinter clutch. Do you not think that it is your aggressive clutch that kills your transmission? Several guys are pushing well above 500hp on their T1
box and at least two cars are below 9 seconds; Hector Urias (US) and the CSP Ghia (Germany). Both of them using a "slip style" clutch to keep their
tranny alive. I myselves use a Kep 2 in combination with a thin and lighter version of the black magic disc and so far it works fine. I tried it with
a Kep1 but I could not get the break away torque I was looking for but and I had to shim the Kep2 to get it down to 190lbs.
Looking forward to more updates.

thanks for your imput and remarks BB. I do agree with you that a clutch set-up that is too harsh will destroy the tranny, however in my case my tranny
failure was on the dyno under full load. I assume that the new mainshaft bearing that I used was not up for the task. The new german mainshaft bearing
had a plastic cage that supported the rollers and this cage came out of the bearing, then pushing all rollers to one side and sending the mainshaft
off-centre. after that all hell broke loose inside the tranny.... for the record my new clutch set-up incorporates a cinter-iron disc

when I started with injection on my sports sedan and then the first build of the turbo oval , my injectors were 550cc .
Then the second build of the turbo oval came and we wanted more fuel to cope with the extra boost , so the injectors were increased to 780cc .
Now we plan to use E-85 race fuel and even more boost so we have chosen new 1680cc injectors from Powerflow. They have arrived today.
