Thanks for the update Steve, I bet the ambient was pretty low down at Goulburn. Looks like you improved your lap times by a few seconds so you gotta be happy with that :)

Hi Matt, I think ambient temperature was a shade under 20. I'm not running any sway bars apart from the stock front one, so I will look into what I can do.

I've changed the inter cooler pump to a Davies Craig (Bosch) one, its rated at less GPA than my Groco CP20 which might not be a bad thing to have the coolant hanging around longer

I have a Davies craig one that has been going now since 2004, that's impressive! I even have a spare new one that I scored cheap on Ebay just incase, maybe that's why the original is still going.....

Hi

I bought a Davies Craig one to use on a heating system for my sons bug.

I abandoned that idea and the pump sat in my garage for a few years.

When I hooked it up it didin't work, I pulled it apart and found that there was some corrosion on the shaft, very easy to dismantle, I cant see how anything could go wrong with one, but a spare would be good.

Hi

Forgot to mention that I washed my car at 5.30 am, changed wheels and then entered the show n shine at the VW Nationals, I picked up 2nd place in Beetles 68 on modified, raced on Saturday, shown on Sunday.

This is the first time I've entered the show since about 1989.

The show is peer judged so it was many peoples opinion not just a few, thanks to those that voted for me.

Hi

Went to WSID (local Sydney 1/4 mile) last Wednesday night to get in some practice before the VW drags at Warwick and before I fit a bigger turbo. I won best reaction time .001 as well and $300.

Best time was 12.432 @110.90 mph, crap 60fts, 40 series tyres are no good for drag racing

I've just ordered a new turbo a GTX3076, some bigger injectors and a Frozen Boost ice reservoir. http://www.frozenboost.com.

Hi

Don't be scared Lou, be afraid that I will miss 3rd as usual. Have you fitted a radio to your car yet so that you can listen to the pit broadcast?

Picked up the Ist part of the quest for more kilowatts today, thanks to AFI South, some 1000cc injectors with plenty of head room for E85, they also supplied some adaptors for Denso to GM plugs so I don't have to cut any wires.

Im booked for a tune the Monday before Warwick so turbo and injectors will be fitted by then, not sure about ice box.

Just because he made some things for this car, doesn't mean you need to take a leaf out of Westies book :lol::lol:

On second thoughts, you have given yourself a few extra days compared to Brad :lol::lol:

Are your fuel lines already E85 suitable, did you plan ahead.

Hi

There is only a few metres of rubber line in the car, so if not E85 safe its no a big deal.

Just got got back from Westys, he's so busy he doesn't have time to prepare his car for Warwick, but as always he took time to hash out my plans for more power.

Yep Bosch 1000s, they turned them down to fit into a stock rail.

Hi

Some more parts turned up today from Frozen Boost.

Ice water reservoir and water to air intercooler pump, this pump is designed by Bosch and Ford specifically for water/air applications and is used in many of the supercharged Mustang Cobras and supercharged Mercedes.

Turbo arrives today.

Hi

Turbo is on, just need to fit the injectors and some phenolic spacers to the inlet manifold and fit the ice box.

There is a massive size difference between the turbos.

I thought my motor used a VF30, its actually a VF35

Holy f****k Batman!

you'll need more boost to make up for the extra weight Stevie.....

Be very interesting to see how this goes with such a big turbo. Did you do any research on this before hand, knowing you well I am guessing you did so looking forward to catching up at Warwick.

You'll need a bigger fuel tank too as E85 usage is about 20% higher than normal fuel and your burn rate will now be higher as well.

Looks like the fat girl just got obese!!

Hi

Its a direct replacement for the stock turbo, I bought it from these people http://www.tuspeed.com/atp-turbo-gtx3076r-bolt-turbo-kit-for-subaru-wrxsti-p-...

In the photos it looks like the exhaust flange is way bigger but its the same size as the stock turbo.

Its not much heavier than the stock turbo, maybe a few kilos.

I'm not going E85 just yet, but when I do it will be with a flex sensor so I can run on 98 most of the time but when I with fill with E85 and the ECU will take care of it.

I think I had a boost leak, I wonder how it would have gone at WSID without a split in the hose.

Hi

It was a bit of challenge to fit a 3 inch inlet under the Subaru inlet manifold. Needed a bit of hammer work.

air box with either good pod inside or panel filter fixed on the engine so it seals up against the the deck lid louvers. Run a soft thick foam rubber seal around the edge.

Hi

I'm running a pod filter which is not legal, If I boxed it in and put it up against he engine bay vents I'm not sure if that would be legal.

What I would like to do is do an intake in mudguard like Jak did on his bug, I just need to figure out a decent filter box that will fit in the engine bay.

unenclosed pod filters have always been illegal in NSW. Don't know why.

Although I don't know how it's any different to twin carbies sitting in your engine bay.

Either way, it's not good for your motor / intake temps anyway
