I have looked on the forum and in the trading post and cant find any Beetles in Vic for sale that are ready to go.
There were quite a few yesterday at DOVW, but I wasn't looking then and didn't get any numbers.

Hmmm, I walk out of medical and I see a large grey smoke making, kerosene burning, noise polluting, fuel air bomb in the making leaving. I sthat meant
to be some sort of omen for my broken type 3???????? Its dead again, all part of yesterday's evil attack on VWs, that must never be spoken of!

You guys are having such a bad time of things lately...it can only get better from now on!! :thumb
Bel won another trophy for beetle 58-67....didn't expect it this year cos she has some chips in her paint and I never do get the touch up paint when

Nice to see new cars every year and some nice interstaters
Pyro...hope you didn't have any dramas getting home...and did you catch up with zac??
The weekend was a test for my new man...cleaning Bel all day Saturday then the DOVW all Sunday...thought I was nearly pushing my luck but all is good

Hey Jen congrats on the trophy. It was the extra polishing that did it. And in regards to the chips, they shouldn't be marked too heavily against a
car when judging as that shows it is driven not hidden.
Pyro, I was kept pretty busy talking about the Suby conversion, so I understand it was not easy to get to me. There was heaps of interest in it and I
suppose Custom Off Road will be getting a fair bit of interest in their conversion gear. The Helbus looks ok, but not trophy standard. It's a daily
driver so there is only so far you can go.

Hmmmm, you asked for it.....where to start.
Okay, leaving Amberley in the morning Osama was a wee bit reluctant but I put that down to not driving him for a week or so. He ran fine all teh way
to the show at about 110km/hr. From a phone call I made while driving I gathered that Festy was alive and purring* along as well.
After a great day in the sun and drinking cokes (I am still recovering from last week) it was time to go home..............
Right,
Osama wouldn't start and had to be roll started (I thought I may have left the radio on so wasn't worried about anything there)
Cruising back with $2.63 in convoy we came across a very nice oval in the left lane and I thought 'damn, didn't think they went that slow!!'
overtook it then realised it was stopping not just going slow! His car just wasn't going. After about 1/2 hr there just watching as Steve, Shaun and
$2.63 figured out what was wrong we were on our way again (I didn't turn Osama off to charge his battery).
We got to Bris and I got a phone call asking to tail $2.63 out to her place since I live thataways now. (Very fortunate phone call!!!)
Pulled into Hungry Jacks, got some food, then on the way out Festy decides to spit the dummy and blow fuel out his tail pipes and stop!!..... about
200 m from Thoruns place luckily!
Right all into Osama, up to Thoruns for lunch then back to Festy. Got back to him by foot after putting Osama in under the house (downhill.... I'll
get back to that later)...... Festy has a new fuel pump, plugs, leads etc. Has fuel in tank, fuel in lines and was blowing fuel out the exhaust???? we
tried and were working on it when the heavens opened... and opened and openend!!! with her window down!!
After watching lightening hit the power pole opposite and blacking out Throuns neighbourhood, we gave up and pushed Festy uphill to Throuns place. I
went to start Osama to get him out and put Festy in... wouldn't start. $2.63 took her battery out to start my car, the battery wouldn't fit
(terminals on wrong sides), we pushed Festy into another garage, took the battery from Thoruns damaged square, started mine, got him on the street
ready for a roll start, swapped batteries over again, got $2.63 into the car, roll started then headed off to Amberley where my Subie was patiently
waiting and plotting (its all an evil ricer plot I tell you!!). Anyhows, so at the end of the day out of three cars, one is in the same state it was
(Thoruns - damaged but drivaeable) and two are dead. $2.63 with an unknown/diagnosed illness and Osma with a cactus battery (which by the way is about
2/3 the size of the one from Thoruns car, which may explain why I keep killing it).
There, its off my chest, I feel happy now that others know why that weekend is never to be spoken of again!!
*apologies to all cats, purring is not an adequate noise to descrbe Festy and his tail pipe explosions, but its much more polite than saying "Festy
was farting along"*

you scared me off :P:P
nah i've been at a mates farm for the past few days. just relaxing, drinking free beer, going shooting, and then doing donuts and drifting in their
fields with my fully sic mazda stationwagon lol.
i'm very pissed that i missed dovw, but we had some family show up, and i couldn't really leave..caus i hadn't seen them for ages etc..you know how
it is.
if any of you out of towners :P(melb or further) need a place to stay in vic, there's plenty of room at our house here.(down in geelong that
is...10mins from the beach, close to lorne and the great ocean road etc) so yeh..just a note.
and pengy, love the apology at the end. though the dead vw's aren't so good.

Well from the various pics on the forum it looks like DOVW was good fun for you all.
I can report that Festy is runnign again, but has a bugered front shock at the moment, so he's not quite out of hospital yet. Got a much bigger
battery for Osama and may lend him to lildub and $2.63 while I am south to keep him running along.

Just thought I would let you all know, with all my spare time I am doing some serious Beetle hunting. We go looking this weekend, and whatever we get,
we are going to register it with the KOC numberplates from the dead beetle RTA transferred. We will also be having one minutes silence on Saturday at
11.00am for our fallen comrade. 2 years and the KOC never ever failed to start. Daily driver the whole time and did nearly 20,000 miles.

Man
I wouldn't be able to cope very well with the loss of a loved one like that! You can replace them but its never the same. I will show my respect
for your loss with a minute's silence, but after that I might have to raise a few glass's in her memory as a mark of respect. Oh and when you bring
the new baby home we will have to raise a few more to wet the baby's head!

likes it. It doesn't have the chirrup sound, as it has different pipes out of the muffler and being a 1600 it actually has some torque.
The next thing now is negotiations.

happy b'day Rob :beer
quick scroll back on morrie peeps.
bugger, helbus poor fleur, but good to hear she is able to move on and embrace a new vw love.
whoohoo jen. a man in ur life AND a trophy.. happy days
Just brought Osama home............. I now understand the attraction peeps have for type 3's .... they are made for cruisn! such a pleasant drive
after the baja :duh so quiet thorun and I are going to end up bickering
over custody while penguin is away
As of this morning Festy is finally running well again after wasting a week on fiddly, stupid things going wrong. Thorun agrees he definately threw a
hissy fit when he saw me riding past in the oval at the gold coast show. The final straw was when he saw me touching it's bits, and HIS tools being
used on another ride. He must have heard Thor and I giggling at the semaphores driving back, so he thought he would teach me a lesson such a sook!
I have given festy lots of reassurance that Osama is just visiting and there is definately nothing mechanical going on. Man, he is worse than a
jealous boyfriend |
