I reckon the box will hold up ok... Though I know it's taken a lot from me over the years... Sprints, hill climbs, autokanas and loads of drag
racing... But all on radials... The issue is the tyres... I have M&H cheaters on there now... The fear is the axles will pop... But come Wednesday
week that will be it... If they break then, then so be it. The new pan is getting built over the school holidays... Even if the new transaxle doesn't
arrive before new year... At least I can mock the mounts up with a spare box.

That's gonna present a problem then..... Nobody does 'open centre' rim (wide 5) balancing here in Perth.

If you do get them balanced make sure you mark the tire to the rim, assuming your not running screws or beadlocks.

I had a local engineer machine me an adaptor plate from 12mm steel plate that I bolt to my wide-5 rims with a 72mm hole in the centre and then they
can be balanced easily . If you need it Ben you can borrow it to get your wheels balanced .
I will post a pic of it tomorrow........

That'll be awesome to see Wayne.... I had a chat to my tyre guy here in Perth about this issue.... He's a dubber too, but works on Porsches and
Merc's all day.... They also look after loads of us WA dubbers.... But he has never been able to balance 205PCD rims with the large centre hole....
Though about grabbing a front drum and using that, but all options are welcome.... Looks like I'll be machining something up next week in any case.

the steel adpator plate is the one I used to use for balancing wide-5 wheels , but now I use the alloy rear wheel adaptor plates that I had fabricated

That's the ticket.... Gonna have to make one of those suckers up I reckon.... I'm sure it would be heaps safer doing it this way, than letting a
truck fitter near my light weight ERCO's!!!

We had one made up but don't need to use it. As people have said that no one can balance them.
But when we took it to the tyre shop he said you don't need it we balance them on this tyre balancing machine.
Our same bloke that balances our car tyres uses the truck balancer to balance our wheels no worries.
We also have in the past borrowed the one that our VW car club has to loan out. Club Vee Dub Sydney.

Some shops just don't want to spend the time , as you have to keep turning tyre on rim , so you can find the sweet spot.
Most tyre's have heavy spots in them .
You'll end up with lots of weights , in the end ( stick on ). Put race tape over the weights to , helps hold them on .

Next little chalenge....
Some time back I was looking at methods of fitting aircleaners to the Holley.... Now that I have the car running really nicely and AFR's are nice and
constant, the idea of running an aircleaner has popped up again.... My question is simple on the surface, but in reality very challenging...
As you can see, there's not a lot of room in there....
I don't want to cut the engine cover to fit a funnel as Barry has, and I can't really fit an aircleaner as Rose and Ian have on the Nude Bug.... And
then there is the other idea of fabricating a scoop arrangement much like Nick has on the Junka.... This idea is nice, but I'm not exactly sure how a
Holley actually works.... Does it require a neutral atmosphere above the carb or can I have a positive/pressurised space above the intake?

You could always put one of there on your roof. With some flexible pipe flatened out to go through the gap between your deck lid!!!!!!!
Would work a treat!!!!!!!

Make your boot lid stand offs a bit longer to allow room for air cleaner. Fabricate up a base that fits on the carb that comes to a tee and run a pod
filter on either side of the tee low down beside the carb body itself if there is enough room.

A conventional aircleaner wont fit Ian... And I don't really want to prop the engine cover anymore Brennden.... But I guess I might have to...
Another option is one of these beasts...
Which I have and is ideal, and it would fit without some internal mods, but it's bloody heavy.... Been thinking of pulling a mold off it and making a
fibreglass version.

Hi Humpty
Maybe look around for neck like the one you have from a carby LPG conversion but it may not be any lighter. Could you not fabricate a sheet alloy one
up.
