Maybe you could try Valvoline Engine oil
Valvoline VR1 Racing 10W/40
Mineral racing oil
High in zinc, enhances power & reduces friction

That kind of cam and lifter damage is very often started from the engines initial run from a new build. The damage gets done almost immediately and
will go downhill very quickly from there once the cam lobe and lifter face are pitted/spalled.
Cam and follower break in is the ONLY thing I ever consider when "runing in" a new engine. Nothing else. If I build an engine with an existing
cam/follower package then any formal running in does NOT happen at all apart from some early oil and filter changes.
The initial first few minutes is absolutely CRUCIAL to the life of new/re-coed cam lobe and follower and is almost universally overlooked especially
considering that oiling to VW cams and lifters is a bit streaky at best of times.
A new cam/lifter combination should never be initially broken in with heavy multiple springs fitted. Just a single light spring is sufficient. They
need to be run at elevated rpm for a good 10 minutes initially to ensure enough oil is splashed around in there and that important first settling in
occurs as quickly as possible.

I would go on MOTUL 300V competition 15W-50.
Synthetic oil with very stable characteristics of the heat as you need for air cooling.

A combination of all three instances is very likely, Tool Steel or Composite Lifters will solve the problem as well as Bradd Penn Racing Oil Grade 1,
with no need for break IN with these lifters, if you really want to, Bradd Penn Break In SAE30. Nothing else will do.

Video of the WPVW turbo oval @ DOTD 2011
after many hours of preparation , I got the oval to Day of the drags 2011 at WSID . It was not a successful meeting for me as the clutch fryed on the
first run and it ran lean on methanol and did some engine damage .
The burnout was really strong and the car felt great , but the clutch slipped straight out of the hole . I was doing 97mph @ half track and then got
off it , crossing the line at 12.37@ 87mph .
I am really sure that the engine used more fuel than the 2litre surge tank could supply , so I have now purchased a new fuel cell . I will now remove
the oval beetle fuel tank , Holley blue lift pump , surge tank , filter and all accossiated lines , and will now pull fuel directly from the aluminum
10 litre cell .
Here is some video footage

PREPARATION FOR WARWICK 2011
after running at WSID , I have investigated the fuel surge problem and it would seem that a $20 fuel filter has cost me an engine I have then removed the engine from my oval and stripped it down
for inspection .
the spark plugs show an extremely lean mixture and heat blistering
I had fitted the areomotive A1000 fuel pump & stainless steel 100 micron fuel filter with 5/8" diameter lines to the injection rails , but a T4
transporter EFI fuel filter between the fuel tank and lift pump for the surge tank has had a reaction to the methanol and blocked the filter . The
paper cartridge filter reacted with the methanol making the paper swell and block the fuel supply .....

all of the other pistons also suffered heat damage and grabbed the bores
I have ordered new 4.125" pistons , rings & pins / new 103mm barrels that I will have bored to suit the pistons / and new type-1 camfollowers
from Pauter . I am going to sleeve the lifter bores to suit type-1 lifters this time

I was running Manley Forged pistons from a 400ci chevy +0.030" ( 4.155" or 105.5mm ) and the rings were total seal . This time I have been able to
locate a set of CP Forged racing pistons for a 400ci chevy ( 4.125" or 104.75mm ) with a pin height for 6" rods . This is the same pin height that I
was using , so will make my engine set-up much easier for me and my barrels will be a little thicker in the spigot for better support .

well all of my new engine parts have arrived and the preparation & assembly will begin tomorrow evening . I purchased a new set of CP forged
4.125" (104.75mm) 400 chevy pistons & total seal rings . These are lumpy top pistons & I have machined the top down to gain the compression

I have had camfollower trouble in the recent past . I had purchased a set of type-4 racing lifters from European motorworks and they failed after the
first race meeting at Warwick 2010 . I then purchased a set of Scat lube-a-lobe type-4 lifters from my brother Rod and they did 2 x 200m runs up the
street and back , then 1 quarter mile pass and they were about to fail again showing signs of defects , so I have now purchased a set of Udo Becker
56gm tool-steel racing lifters . I am very confident that these lifters will cope easily with the loads thrust upon them from my valve-train
I have now had manufactured from phospherous-bronze , a set of sleeves for my lifter bores & had them installed to suit type-1 lifters . Then the
lifter bores are machined for lobe to lifter clearance

All of the lifter bores are machined and I have also had the engine case line-bored to ensure a perfect tunnel . The engine case is ready for final

I believe that the movement was from a not so perfect tunnel . If you see the last pics the case has now been line-bored . The centre main bearing is
factory pinned on each side as you would know , and with the correct bearing nip and good oil pressure so that the main journel does not touch the
bearing , the bearings should not move . I also found faults with my oil pump and this is why it also is being replaced .

Its indeed a matter of if you believe there is movement from 86mm stroke cranks and/or 200+ hp cars or not, as no-one of us can actually see it
happening.
I tend to look at the 911 cases which are also pinned, even on each main.
You car does not see that many miles though and the align bore looks very nice.
Love the silicon-bronze bushings and the type 1 - wider foot - lifters are the way to goo too
Very curieus what she will do after the upgrade, on the dyno and the strip, keep us posted!
