Yesterday saw some progress with the central locking, actuators have been mounted into the doors and all the wiring seems to be going good.

Ordered some stuff from CIP1 the other day and am expecting that to arrive Tuesday.
That will mean that next Sunday we can get the one piece window kit all mocked up and go down to U-Pull It and get some electric window mechanisms.
For those wondering, or planning on doing something similar, the lift that is needed in a VW Beetle (68 onwards I will assume) door to see the window go from the bottom to the top is 380mm.

Hopefully on the U-Pull It trip we can get the Outside Air Temperature sender out of a Subaru and get that all fitted up with the dash too.

Umm, what else happened yesterday...
Oh, the fuel sender that we had mocked up, doesn't fit into the actual fuel tank hole.
So we have had to change the design, I didn't get a photo of it as the redesign hasn't finished.

Oh, and the CIP1 order contained the following.
- Deluxe One Piece Window Kit
- Sunvisor Clips (black)
- Black Sunvisors
- Black Front Door Cards (W/O Pockets)
- Black Rear Door Cards
- One Piece Black Perforated Vinyl Headliner (W/ Door Post Material)
- Door Panel Clips (50pcs)
- Door Panel Clip Seals (50pcs)

Have a funny feeling I'm going to need more clips and clip seals, hoping we can salvage enough from Zelda's current doors and door cards when the time comes.
If not, another CIP1 order is in progress as going to need to get some more interior stuff as it happens.

Oh, also, had a mishap with JustKampersAustralia. They sent me the wrong bumper, was expecting one with the indicator holes in it but received one without.
Was a mistake on their behalf and they have corrected the issue. Unfortunately, however, they actually didn't have any of the bumpers with indicator slots in stock so they have to order from the UK and could be quite a long wait till I receive said bumper.

Wheels will either arrive in the coming week or sometime the week after. Hopefully we can get those mocked up on the new body and see what needs to be done.
I have a funny feeling that my three point turns will turn into a ten point turn, but I'm happy doing that as long as it's still drivable, which it will be. I guess I'm more of a form over function kinda person.

Didn't do much with the dash cluster itself, I figured out what needs to be done to get the rear diff temperature light to turn off and Dave has found what sender is needed to get the oil temperature to work with the water temperature part of the gauge so that shall be cool.

Has been a while since I got any photos of Zelda, she hasn't changed for a while which is kinda sad but oh well, not enough time in the day to do anything. I might finally install my hands free before work tomorrow, and clean up the wiring under the current dash for the sound system.

Other than that, that's about all that has happened. Will keep everyone posted I guess.

One piece glass door kit arrived, along with the headliner, door card clips and door clip seals.

Won't get the glass out until Saturday to get it all into the door.

Nice wheels Seb. When will you have them 'rolling'?

Not for a while, test fitting them on the weekend hopefully, but won't roll them until they're all cleaned up and looking damn fine.

Getting the centers powder coated black. Barrels and lips will be sandblasted/soda-blasted and then probably just polished.
They have a tiny bit of corrosion which I want to fix up but other than that, they're pretty good for how much I got them for!

They're 16x7j +30ET. Nissan spec bolt pattern, 5x114.3.

Jason,
Not much progress was achieved last weekend, but this weekend will see a lot done hopefully!
Plan is to get an old disc brake, re-drill and then stud them.
Then we can bolt one up to Zelda and see where it fouls.

Will definitely be taking some photos next weekend, I'm really keen to get a lot done so we'll see what happens.

Cam,
Will be an interesting fit that's for sure. Will see how it goes come Sunday.
Might need to rebuild them as it is, new lips and barrels may be in order, we'll see where it fouls.

Joel,
To right, BBS RS rims are what the go is, not just for VW's either, most "Eurolook" cars now run them.

Toey,
I got all the diagrams I needed from http://ken-gilbert.com/impreza-manuals.
It takes a long time to go through them, and definitely not something you want to rush.

Seb, the 114.3 pcd is also Honda, ford, and a bunch more cars when you come to do the brakes.
The hardest thing for you is going to be getting them under your guards and not scrubbing. Especially when turning.
Not my choice of wheels but interested to see how they will turn out

Thanks for that Heath.
I reckon I'll have more troubles with them fouling on the inside, they'll fit under the guards and all, but when turning I won't have full lock.
Which, to be honest, I'm actually not fussed with that to be honest.
Oh well, not going to be everyone's cup of tea!

When Zelda is done, she'll be done, and done to what I want.
Woot.

Sure is from a game, GT5 for the PS3 to be exact!

Anyone should be able to appreciate something like that!
Definitely need to be wider rims though, that's for sure...

Alrighty, test fitted the wheels today!

From the side, reckon I could go down another inch or so. We'll see what happens...
http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/3.png

http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/1-1.png

From the front, she tucks in nicely and has a tiny bit of negative camber.
http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/SideView.png

And now for some underneath shots. It clears the strut easily, but has taken my full lock down to half the original. In regards to the front, there are is one more issue that needs to be resolved and that is where the brake line is mounted. Have to move it up so it won't cut up the tire,
http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/StrutClearance.png

And at the rear, where the bump stop hits the top of the tower, that we need to trim so that when the wheel has travel, it doesn't hit the inside of the barrel.

Thanks guys, the aim is to get them all ready to be put on when the brakes arrive and so forth.

Tomorrow should be getting everything powder coated gloss black and then a mate is coming around to help me polish the lips.
Going to look intense when they are complete and wrapped in some very stretched tires.

Then comes the painstaking task of getting everything perfect.

I don't know about you guys, but I think wheels can either make or break a car. I honestly think Zelda will look really freaking awesome as she is with those wheels.
All banged up and shit, but rolling on some sweet wheels, that is what I enjoy.

Don't go too nuts with the stretch, aside from handling issues you'll get very used to being cop bait.

The pressure stretched tyres take to stay beaded properly is alot more than the front of a bug needs.
They are gonna come up awesome with a powder coat :tu:

Nice and powder coated.

http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/Justhadto.png

http://i1099.photobucket.com/albums/g388/SebastienPeek/Niceandblack.png

Time to rebuild them, wrapped in 205/40/r16 Falken's I reckon, and put them on Zelda's current body.
And get new drums/discs drilled, then it'll be game on to get them to fit perfectly.

Could probably have taken better pictures but meh, will take more when I have sanded back the lips and polished them.

Thanks Cam!

Ahaha nah, haven't taken them to sleep with me yet, they have been pulled apart again and am in the process of sanding the lips back and then polishing them up, and throwing on a couple of coats of clear. Then I am just waiting on George from Classic Vee Dub to get me the brakes and then get them drilled and tapped. A lot of work to go, but going to be awesome when they're done.
