Not sure of the brand, but I would guess at the price they have it for that it would be a chinese (or similar) one. Its from a place over at Niddrie (?) inMelb near Tullarmarine.
Heres the link to their home page, if you look at the stock list its the 4th one down.
http://www.thetoolexchange.com.au/
I guess for that price I shouldn't be expecting too much if I was to take it. I've been offered a compressor for Xmas, so am trying to get a reasonable (as in price versus quality versus size/capcity) one without breaking my Folks bank

TWM brand. Tools & Woodworking Machinery

We also used to sell a lot of TWM stuff, and it was all heavy duty Chinese. It is definitley going to be good for you to use. They are pretty much a Chinese copy of McMillan unit. The triple cylinder cast iron unit 6th one down the list is almost identical to my McMillan I have used for about a hundred resprays over 13 years.

Most TWM stuff is industrial rated, so wiring and plugs and a lot of other bits are designed to be used fairly heavily. They stand by their warranty too.

As it is TWM brand, you may find a tool supplier up there that has them in stock. Although TWM warehouse is located in Sunshine area of Melbourne, which is close to Niddre, so they would probably pick the items up themselves, so no freight for them to get to their premises.

Now that's some serious gear. I am lucky enough to be able to use the TIG at work when ever I want. Not take home though.

Portable enough to fit in a beetle....:)

Should I even ask where you got that from at that price? or was there a new version of the 'big blue warehouse' at play here?

Not too far yet,
the shed has been delivered but I am waiting for the council to give approval before I can get the slab poured and start building it.
Anyone up to anything for New Years?

I am just in time to have a stout brew ready. Just had first taste test about an hour ago, and am on to the second bottle. Beautiful creamy head and strong malty body with no "home brew" flavours or smells. Absolutely beautiful if I must say so myself.

Just finished painting the garage today after 4 days solid painting.

Pete
another compressor question. Aside from not being able to replace a belt or two, what would be a problom witha direct drive compressor versus a belt driven one?

The belt tends to do a couple of things. It removes the constant pulsing of the pistons from the drive of the motor, and also gives a slightly softer startup. It also allows for a faster revving electric motor, and then there is the ability to have torque multiplication through pulley sizes. Overall a belt drive is a better system in just about every way.

Ta
just that you can get a multitude of direct drive compressors for way way cheaper than a belt drive. Still looking for a transport company out of Melb to get it that other one up here.
