Pengy enjoy the shed while your there then!!:sandrine
Well I should be applying for the building permit for the shed next week (touch wood) Getting someone from the club to submit it as he does it for a
living. I think it's the best way to do it as I'm sure the councils stuff them around a lot less...I hope

Fidel is doing well, he drove an excavator and bobcat last week and dug up the driveway. Did a really good job, got it all level and organised crushed
rock to go down and everything. We will be able to get a new driveway sometime before 2014 now.
Last night on the way home from a friends place in Nunawading. (we went to see their 10 week prem baby at The Mercy Hospital). We got a flat tyre in
the Helbus. First flat tyre in about 12 years. We have no spare on the bus since the bullbar came off, so I rang the RACV. We have extra care, so a
tow truck arrived shortly, and also a taxi (to put baby capsule in for bub). We were home not long after.
I cannot think who else would have helped us at midnight? Best money we have spent on that extra care.

Cooll shot,
I had one of those at my place last weekend for preperation for the water tanks. Got my two nephews on it as well. But I don't think they looked as
confident as Fidel did.
Bummer about the flat tire though.

Wow...Pete this year is flying way too fast...Fidel doesn't look like a real young baby any more..and he looks like he may know what to do with that
digger
One things about Melbournes drought is that we are still to get out there to did and paint without worrying about it all getting ruined by a deluge
...this may sound selfish but I hope it doesn't rian when they lay the slab for my shed...but it can start when the water tank is in:thumb
OK I'm starting to feel positive again...I thought my local council had beaten me into the ground there for a while

Good to hear you are on a positive and forward moving streak now Jen. Can't wait for the garage warming party. Maybe we could arrange some kind of
'garage crawl' where we drive from house to house and have a drink (not necc alcohol) and nibbles at each house.
I took the wheel to get the flat fixed this morning and it had a hole in the sidewall, which means new tyre required. A real bummer as they are brand
new set only done a couple hundred k's.

a garage crawl sounds a great idea, I'll certainly be into celebrating once the shed is up..I can't wait to get this shed up...I'm forgetting what
it's like to sit in Bel..I was dreaming about parking her in it last night
Yes it was a good move to change companies I was getting the shed through, I found it a drawn out process going through a company that was only
supplying the shed kit from interstate, I'd have to get in contact with the agent here who would then have to put any changes through to the mother
ship, then I'd have to wait for their contact and then faxing new contracts back when ther was a change to layou etc...much better going locally and
with a company who applies for the Building Permit and organises the erection of the shed...and it has worked out cheaper?!!
It's been a big learning curve...I wasted so much time trying to get the dispensation through, could have had the shed up months ago
I didn't realise that the price of a Building Permit was based of the total cost of getting the shed up if it is over $12k...it's government levies
outside of the council charges:duh ... well that has been worked around....shhhhhhh...they get to you from all sorts of angles, if it's not the local
government it is State Gov. charges...then I'll get hit with stamp duty once I have the line of credit I've used to renovate refinanced into a home
loan:cussing
Yes a lot more positive but so over it all

Getting there with the pics.
Spent today mixing and pouring concrete at my Dads for hsi first water tank (there is a second yet to come). He and my brother mixed just over a cubic
metre and I got to barrow it and place it. So needless to say, when mine gets done, I am getting in a mini mix truck and getting it done that way!
As for how I got around my council rules etc, I just said it was less than $6k, (I "forgot" about the cost of the concrete ) and only paid the basic fee for lodgement and inspections.
I got the missing bits of the shed on Friday, so maybe when I get back from Melb I can get it together and start raising the frame. I am driving down
to pick up my dad (when he gets back from Hong Kong) and driving back to Bris with him.

When I applied for my garage I said $8k. The guy behind the counter said he reckoned it was not enough, I was underquoting. So I said $9980. He was
happy with that The limit was $10k to have to get extra insurances when owner building.

Nah
slab is down, the framework has been started but the shed maufacturer missed a few bits when they shipped it out to me. When I called them, they tried
to say that they dildn't think they missed anything but got an 'engineer' on the phone and he then agreed that they had stuffed up, asked what I
was missing and then had it all shipped out to me straight away.
The only reason I can't keep building it at the moment is that I am down here on leave and will not be home for another week. Just you wait till I
get back next week
Pete, our limit is $6000, after that you have to have an owner builders ticket for 'construction' works. And that is inclusive of all materials. I
thought it was a bit rich considering what I normally do for a living, so have no woriies with being a wee bit elusive with the truth to that scale.
For the next bit though I am being honest as the house work is structural and requires a real builder not just a contract manager.

The term Owner Builder is a bit misleading seeing yout don't have to physically lay a hand on any tool yourself to be classed as one but only
contract others to do the work for you?? It's all about getting more revenue like getting a ticket for doing 63 in a 60 zone in an area where there
in absolutely no need to driving at 60klms...no schools, churches or anything else that warranted a slower speed where I got photographed:cussing
At the moment I feel like I am keeping this state running!!:jesus

Argh ddie got 2 speeding fines this week...one on Geelong Rd in March and 1 one the way home from work....AND he s not the speed demon in the
family..... 63 in a 60 zone, and 105 on the freeway...we are keeping this stte alive:jesus
...hmmm I'm wonderig if it would be better to leave the cars at home?

I got a really good bit of news.
Well apart from little Fidel being a good boy.
I cleaned out the glovebox of the bus, that has accumulated some really weird stuff over the past 6 or 7 years. I found the compliance plate. I must
have taken it off when I put the front seats in, and that was about 7 years ago. Why did I take it off? Because I carpet trimmed behind the seat.

After all you have been through to get approval, any issues that come along during the build will be a walk in the park.
I am getting a new fence built on one side of the block today. 40 metres and I have to pay for all of it. I have a laneway next to me, and that
effectively makes my block a corner block. The fence that was there was your typical old 5' 6" (1.650m) that a lot of people can look over, and
throw rubbish over.
I am getting a 2.0 metre fence built, which will give a bit more privacy from the laneway.

Good idea Pete I have 2 metre high fences..they do give more privacy
My son went to the council today...bad move..aksed about replacing a laserlite roof on the back pagola with colourbond...before they would tell him
anything they are for the address..then said we needed a permit costing $450.00 to replace the laserlite....##!!@!#!:cussing
Think we'll leave the pagola for a while and hope they forget we ever asked:duh
I mean we want to do it right but they don't make it easy or affordable at times
I was not impressed when I heard he went to the coucil...I need to get over them for a while and feel like I have paid my dues for a while
I am putting council buidling regulators up there with parking inspectors right now

Fence is coming along good. The back yard is 2.0m with a 150mm high extra bit of timber at 45 degrees so no-one can jump up and grab the top of the
fence to climb over or jump up. It is next to a laneway.
