Hi

I did a bit of cheating, I had my calliper adaptor brackets milled down 2 mm so that the calliper sits closer to the rotor centre, it always needed to move closer but I never had a reason before to do it.

I need to use an 8mm slip in spacer, they are only 6 inch wide and with my alloy arms they just fit inside the rear guards. Front will use 19 mm bolt on spacers.

7s on the rear would have made for worse clearance, I tried Leighs 7inch Cookies and they were worse that the 6 inch one.

Funny thing is my 15 inch alloy 944 space saver spare clears the brakes fine.

Lou shoot us reminder before Warwick so that we dont forget your wheels.

Hi

Pre Warwick dyno today, made 253 kw on 20 psi, we were ready to go for more and the MAP sensor shit itself, so train home from Gosford going back up early in the morning with the trailer and another MAP of my sons drift car.

1 psi less boost and 8 more kW.

Hope so, combined with the 15 inch wheels and more kW it should pick up some time and kph, just hope it stays on the ground, I think I might put the whale tail on again

Great work Steve, you must be happy with that :D

When you say picking up more KPH, I thought you went to a smaller rolling diameter tyres (15's) and I thought that was meant to be for the drags only.

In the words of the great Pauline Hansen, 'Please Explain':lol::lol:

Hi Kev

Its so overgeared I will never run out of gears so running the 15s should lower the final drive enough to get into 5th on the 1000 I hope and that will still be good for 299 kph which I dont I will reach.

good number Stevo!!

glad we are running the 1/8 mile and not 1/4 next weekend otherwise wouldn't see you for the dust!!

Be interesting to see your numbers for the 1/8 and compare to last year.

might have to feed you up over the weekend to get the power to weight ratio level with me................. lol!

I went down to Cooma and ran my Beetle at the Snowy Mountains 1000, it’s a bit like a drag race but only a single car at a time and at over 1000 metres on Cooma airport runway, it’s much longer than a traditional ¼ mile which is only 402.336 metres.
There was an amazing variety of cars running, even an electric Radical race car and a strong contingent of VWs. Wayne Penrose came down and ran his beautiful Karmann Ghia for the 1st time and was awarded a trophy for fastest normally aspirated 4 cylinder.
This year I had a bit of completion in my class, I guy I work with ran his immaculate Datsun 1600 powered by a 350 kW SR20 engine, he was about 1.5 seconds quicker than me and took the class win, I came second. I finished at about 50th out of 135 cars.

This year I did few things to my car to make it run faster and I managed to go a bit quicker, last year my best time was 22.513 seconds @ 226 km/h, this year I did 22.3247 @ 236.7 km/h, I had 4 runs, two where I went from 2nd gear to fifth gear one were my coolant overflow sprayed onto my ignition coils and the one where I got my best time which wasn’t a very good run as it was late in the day and I had a lot of wheel spin off the line, so car is going great, driver needs more time doing angry gear changes. Can’t wait till next year.

Thanks car felt great even with 12 psi in the rear tyres.

Ive finally sorted my intake temp issue, I've been short circuiting my ice box so that ice water goes from the ice box and back to the cooler then back to the ice box, didn't see intake temps over 40 all day, I taped up the radiator intake and it still ran cool, loving E85

15s look ugly but weigh a lots less, so it has got to help acceleration, my car is very tall geared so it also helps with acceleration

Hi

I'm off to Sydney Motorsport Park soon for a twilight supersprint on the Gardener circuit, Rudi is running his STI as his bug is in pieces

Ive done some suspension improvements and I have about 70 more kilowatts since the last time I did a supersprint, should be fun.

videos tomorrow.
