One nice looking VW.What are you going to do about the back window?I have had all new glass made for my Oval with a legal grey tint in it.Got a
laminated cut for the front and had the Oval done with the stick on tint in the same shade as the sides.Am doing some chasing around to get a Safari
front screen made for my Oval. The colour of your tint will really go with the body colour you have chosen.

Humble beginings
Well after nearly selling her i've seen the light and am now keeping the Notch for our ( like the way i say our ) next little AVD's project.....
Budget Drag racer here we come!
Those that know me will know my love for the drags and the budget racers that have a go and enjoy themselves. Seeing the Notch's shell sitting there
it screaming out to be a race car of sorts and i'm going to have a go.
It will be a BUDGET race car and nothing flash , mostly using 1600/ 1776 long blocks on 40's or similar. All cheap and cheerful and readily
available. For what it lacks in go we'll make up with plenty of show.
Hopefully i will soon have some guidelines on how to build / prep the car but am after ANY help / suggestions/ ideas etc from AVD's that will help in
the build. I'll be asking alot of Q's i feel , LOL !
I have also approached a few sponsors and have backing from a local panelbeaters. As i already have the paint they will assist in prepping and
painting it and throw a little $$$ my way in exchange for a prime location on the car for their sponsorship decals. Also have a glass company and a
local tyre place that i've scored a deal with. It's not major money but a good start. I will seek more sponsors out closer to the day , the more the
better really and again thats what budget racings all about.
Also if anyone local wants to be part of this , maybe get involved and help out , the more the better. I am no mechanic and all this is going to be
learning for me. Should be fun!
Here's the victim

Amazed by folks support!
In the last few days i have been amazed by how helpful and generous folk have been with regard to the car and getting it out on the strip.
Replies from racers , raceshops, fellow budget racers , AVD etc , it's been brilliant. Just at a time when i was losing my faith in the VW scene this
happens.
To do this on a tight budget isnt going to easy at all but after the initial show of support i reckon it will be a hell of alot easier than it could
be.
I have had various parts offered , help with any body and welding , cheap tyres , discounts on race products and folks willing to spend an hour or 2
in the garage , helping me sus things i dont understand. This is exactly what i need and it's all good learning.
Again thank you and please keep the advise etc coming especially from others that have built race cars , really does help keep you motivated ,
especially as my garage is bloody freezing!
Along with sponsorship decals there will be a personal thanks decal to those that have offered any parts to the car aswell. My way of saying how nice
you all are:thumb
Keep you posted , it all starts this w'end!
Cheers all

Dan,
keep it goin!!!!
I can see this notch will evolve into something extra special
Love the classic 60's look, with that awesome yet clean satin black interior - very tidy..
Yer ride is seriously starting to motivate me, enough to put off building my lj torana and getting stuck into my '71 notch (that i recently picked up thanks to a fellow 'dubber)
Get some more pics and updates happenin over the weekend mate!!
