can you tell me the brand & part number for the fuel filter between the tank and pump and what size in/outlets?

I changed the barb outlet on the tank to 10mm. The inlet on the VL fuel pump is about 10mm. The pre filter is a standard Ryco wit 10mm in and out.
The high pressure filter after the pump is a Ryco Z 200 with 8mm in and out

The EH Limo had a 12mm inlet on the Bosch fuel injection pump. We had to run a surge tank on it and it had a 12mm outlet to go to the pump. It was a
simple matter of getting a pre filter with that size dia in and out. It was not hard to get from memory, we got the hose, pump and filter all from a
fuel injection friend of a friend of a friend. I don't have the detals though.
The Limo had to run a surge tank as the EFI pump was not lower than the bottom of the fuel tank.

Way cool ....
With the feedback we are getting the D.I.Y kit will include everything you need to do the conversion in your shed.
Good to see yours is going Hellbus .... I have some updates to send down in the next few weeks. Like the new stainless pipes that will remove all that
unsightly rubber stuff from the tappet covers and pcv and breather. makes it much neater.
Will also be keen to see what Accel setup you nut out. If you still haven't solved it by the end of next week when I get home I will send you one of
our adapters.

For crying out loud send me a bloody adapter for the throttle. I am nearly having a berko trying to figure that one out. 
My mechanic friend who hates doing modified stuff because it scares him is going to put the stock driveshafts and stock clutch cable back in for me
this week. He is also going to change the stock Suby spark plugs. Along with the accel cable hooked up, we should be driving.
My mechanic will do VW stuff and he will do Subaru stuff, but for some reason wont touch any components that are considered Kombaru :duh:

the VSS is a VDO unit .. Part no 412.009 ( I think ) works fine.
If you wait a week I will send you an adapter. I am in Melbourne again so can't help till next week :>

I am getting a good feeling about this conversion. I know a lot of Holden heads and a lot of Ford heads. They all appreciate old VW's and have no
negative thoughts about a Suby motor in the bus. They reckon it is retro and cool. Plus the fact we still have a stocky oldskool 70 beetle means we
have the best of both worlds.
I don't want to put the cars in any genre. We just wanna enjoy them

A blury pic showing the 90 degree bend used to change direction of the hose and keep away from exhaust and other stuff. I have cable tied the hose
just for the minute and will put a few clamps on soon.

I didn't get a chance to bleed the cooling system on the weekend, so my mechanic friend who is letting me use his workshop had a look today to see if
the water went down after running hot, and he said it took another three litres of water. He ran it again and it started getting to boil? The thermo
came on, as the switch sensor is working on the motor, but there was no water flow.
Checked the thermostat and it was jammed shut. Simple things like a $10 thermostat can bring you unstuck very quickly.

Fleur chose the air filter. I suppose I'm doing a lot of the nuts and bolts stuff, the least she could do was go out and get the air pod. I told her
to get a one that she liked, and that is what she come up with.

Hi all,
i'm planning my engine conversion at the moment looking into all different radiator ideas
my question is, if i went this route would i be able to tap into the water hoses by the radiator to run a heater
i was thinking of making a box by the front beam and having the heater matrix and fan there and using the stock bus front pipe to get the heat to the
dash

Had a few minutes spare on Saturday, so I had a play with the throttle cable setup. got a temporary thing happening that gives half throttle.
Took it for a drive around the block on and Fleur was more than impressed with the power. "Wicked" was a word she used. I now have to take most of
the stuff out, except the motor and tidy it all up. Wrap wires etc
Definitley has got some balls now.

for the heater you are best off just running it out of the original tubes
then brad modified a a cruiser heater box that sits near the steering box and uses the orig ducting

wow am I glad I found this site. I have been looking into a type IV swap for my bus an came across some subie stuff that opened my eyes  More power and less money sounds like a much better way to go. Buggy
Brad, does the radiator kit you guys have fit a split window bus? or will you be making a kit for splits? I have a 1964 Panel. $1500AUS = about $1100
US right? That doesnt seem too bad considering what all is in the kit.

Finally found the time to finish the accelerator cable last night. I have designed it so it uses the original cable with no modifications. The setup
has turned out really well with a couple of custom bits at the back end that had to meet my very strict guidlines.
- cheap and able to be made from scrap metal/ parts
- strong and not able to wear out
- work efficiently and not put stress on the original cable.
- retain adjustment capabilities
- neat and look like it is meant to be there
I acheived all, and if the cable ever has to be replaced it is a standard $25 item from any VW shop. I have a spare anyway so all is good.
My mechanic friend took it out for a drive this morning and he was veeeery impressed. From a driving point of view it is finished, and it is just the
tidying of wiring and hanging everything in place that is required.
I will get pics up in the near future and the bus will be at DOTVW

Ok latest update.
Put together and fitted Custom Off Road lower crossmember
mounted the radiator expansion tank/ filler properly
mounted charcoal cannister
mounted air cleaner properly
connected VSS
connected Speco 2 & 5/8" tacho part no 52001 fits perfectly in blank guage hole in dash
connected engine check light
connected Speco 2" temp guage part no 52323
Just have to get all of the junk out of it now and clean everything up and it is all done. I will be getting the brakes serviced and new brake hoses
fitted to ensure the brake system is in the best condition also.
Can't wait for DOVW

EJ22 into Bay Microbus project - now finished
Yep, all finished. Went for a bit of driving on the weekend, and runs sweet. Spins both back wheels in first quite easily. Nice loud exhaust. The
Commodore kids next door love the sound of it, they reckon it's hot.
The thermo fan comes on at 90 degrees and the guage does not get any higher than that. It cools beautiful, whether you labour it, idle it,
whatever.
The rebuilt gearbox was pretty tight at first, but I loosened it up. The torque is great, you can drive from 20kph in third and it will slowly
accelerate smoothly until it is doing 100kph.
More pictures will have to come once I get internet back on at home.

BTW, I totally know what you are saying about the torque thing. Smooth as silk and no flat spot. I loved my 1640 in my old bug, but it does not
compare to big properly tuned EFI cubes of the Subaru motor. Wait till you see the difference in the fuel bill!:P
