...more shade? How much more shade could you need with a giant Pub right next door? :P
Yeah, I got roasted too - all part of VW shows in Queensland.
What a great day - even though I had to attend in my wifes Nissan Pulsar (no baby seat in Beetle...yet) :cry
Well done to everyone there - organisers, swappers, car owners/drivers - without all of you these sorts of events wouldn't happen. Well done.

Boozer was parked between 2 shiny cars too :P
I didn't know where I would end up parked for a while. First I arrived and they gave me an "O" sticker, which put me in the buggy class (not the
"N" baja class).
Then when I parked they asked me to move up onto the grassy hill behind the show amongst the swapmeet. My Fiance thought it was a conspiracy theory
against me to stop me from winning again
I moved back in beside you after it was obvious no more Baja's were going to turn up anyway

The car of the day was won by this person by one point more then everyone else. But that is all you need to win. This lady was lucky on the day and as
they say you have to be in it to win it, so the public must have liked what they saw because she won fare and square, even though she did not win her
catergory she came out on top with the car of the day. the public rules with the voting on the day and I say good on her.Cheers EILEEN.

Thanks to all the organisers and for everyone for making the effort to get there and make this the great event that it was.
Tracey and I are still very excited about winning thie Offroad/Kit car class there were some great buggies there and we were the only girls and we won
it............
Shade would be good, everyone wants to stay around the cars and unfortunately that made it difficukt to stay out of the dangerous rays ( take it from
us they are dangerous)
Thanks to everyone for their well wishes...... We love our buggy and are happy so many others appreciated it as well.

its inspiring to see dasdubbers very flash beetle making the trip from the south to the north coast on the road and not above it on a trailer.
something that is unheard of in most other car scenes, a car like that would never get driven.
i guess it comes down to a vw thing why build it if you cant drive it.
great day had by all and the combi with the rotor had my gemini driving mate stumped for the rest of the day
congrats to all

The blue one in the photo's above. the only things that haven't been changed on it are the engine and gearbox. and we have plans for them soon...
for those interested or not here's a rough list of mods my Dad did to it.
-the wizard kit was already on it and it had already had the convertible conversion done when we got it.
-floorpan was gone
-guards widened by 3 inches all round and moulded into body
-running boards moulded into guards and body
-front bumper moulded into body
-rear bumper is front bumper off bay kombi moulded into body
-exhaust arches moved further apart for exhaust
-because wizard kit covered all air vents there was no way to get air to engine. PO had cut a big hole in engine door to help but from the bubbled
paint it was still overheating.
-to solve this 2 scoops were moulded into guards and body and ducted into engine bay. NOTE: this mod was done BEFORE the latest herbie movie came out
so we didn't get the idea from there.
-smaller set of headlights were moulded into body
-indicators are off a proton
-all seats are out of the same proton, the back ones fit perfectly and look like they were supposed to be like that.
-dash is made from a piece of wood from a door that is appox 160 years old.
umm...i can't think of anything else just yet...i know there's more.:P

When I saw it in teh car park at the Entertainment Centre I knew it was a wee bit different, but thats really cool. Nice work to get all that done and
on egtting car of the day.
You say the back seats are from a proton? Do you remember what model and what you had to do to fix them in and get it certified?

ignore that. it's a 71 and is completely road legal. I would feel safer doing seven consecutive flips in it over a cliff than in my baja or kombi.
It's that strong. everything has been reinforced from the PO convertible conversion. I don't know what year model proton the seats are out of (as i
wasn't there when they were aquired) but from their condition and style i'd say mid 90's or so. uhhhh there's more photos around here
somewhere...in one of those galleries there's a few from all angles i think...
