Hey
Thanks for the offer. Have them on disk and can resize the ones saved on hard drive. Didn't think they would be so big

wat a beauty this bus ute was...
not really a complaint but i thought i would see alot more modified cars than wat there was. i was looking forward to seeing Geoff's BUG61N this
year but he mustnt hav made it. still, the cars were all very impressive, and i got some goodies at the swap meet like 2 smooth bumpers, great
condition for $12 each! lovely...
enjoy the pics

Was the beetle with the roof rack (2nd last pic) one of the semi rat looks. I loved those two beetles and thought I had pics. One of them had masking
tape wrapped around the steering wheel where it was cracked.
Tatty but very sweet
Like the last shot of the bus ute. Very nice:thumb

Notches at the Nats
This year was excellent so many entries, so many cars and plenty of swappers .. Had a really great time and it was good to meet so many of you on the
forum. However .. as a Notch owner I get the shits ... It seems that the white Fastback that I believe has never really let the showroom .. So to
speak allways wins. Now dont get me wrong I'm not saying that my Notch is better because it's not .. I just have fun showing it off ..
However the white Fasty wins every year and every other show. I just think that some one should have a word in the gentlemens ear and tell him to sit
it out next year and sure show off the car but dont enter it in the comp. Being that this car wins every time it is not much of an incentive to enter
my Notch. I think next time I'll just show it and stick the $10 entry fee into parts!
Anyhow I've had my whinge!! I'll get over it!
Cya at the next one!

Yeah we had this conversation before Stex...
I used to have to do the same thing with my other car when certain other cars arrived...
10 bucks at the swap can get u some good stuff.
Dont know why he bothers some times ... he must have won every show n category over the past 10 years...
i wanna win some with my Sea Blue ,,, ( after 15 years work) then i will retire it ,,, bit of fun bit of inspiration...
trophies are made for all the people... thats why we limit the entry to 3 cats at the nats...
Stops one car from taking home a shit load.. n shares them out to more people. The max you could win would be 4

I'm with you Strex. I mean, this was the one thing that let my w'end down, and I thought it might have been just me..
I entered the Hotty Notch, and out of the 6 or 7 Type 3's entered, I couldn't pull first second or third, yet everyone I talked to said it
was the best thing they had seen in ages. I wouldn't generally go that far, but it has a lot more character than some of the others, and it also
has original paint and interior.. in fact virtually everything is original apart from the ride height
I am far from a sore loser or anything like that and anyone that knows me will know that this is not what I go to shows for in the first place, but it
was both confusing and annoying.. I don't expect any answers or explanations, I am just venting.. Thanks for listening! :P |

to strex and beneton...
in the harley scene your bike only gets one win at that show. ie you can enter at the bankstown show every year, but can only win it once. the idea is
so that the show bikes with hugh money cant continue to clean up and therefor encourage others. i think the vw scene should look at this idea. so if
you get someone that spends $50k on his beetle. he will get to clean up at every show in that year once. then he either has to change the asthetics or
build another to win again. this way it gives every one a chance to win and brings excitement back into the show as you don't know what to expect
in the winners circle each year. it also cures the trailer queen aspect, where some of these cars only come out just to win....

the same thing happens down in Vic.
THis white fasty....was he a club member, close friend of the judges, helped organise the event or just a old time VW person that is admired by the vw
event ppl?
All of the above will win u the same trophy every year down here. It sucks and asks me why anyone else bothers ! there is always a token
'outsider' that will win something though so it looks correct....
i dont care bcos my car is for me and if u dont like it stuff ya but an example if i remember correctly at our last Bug in(i think) a NB standard
nothing special WON best car of the show. What about giving it to a person that restored and put a heap of effort into their car to encourage them
more.
I've only been into dubs a few years but all i hear and feel is the shows are rigged and the same ppl win all the time, and it seems its not only
in Vic this happens !
anyway my 2c. been hearing this alot recently !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
o yeah agree with u 2guns

I found that the showing of the car and all that is expected prior to showing (polishing etc) was a bit of a bore. I really did enjoy the cruzin to
and from both shows much more.......:thumb

who should win?
I'm not sure that I agree totally with all the sentiment here.
While I definately agree that it is good for the entrants, general public and vw scene in general to have new cars winning the trophies rather than
the same cars year in year out, those that win should do so because they deserve it. Of course they should not win because they happen to be whoever
they are or know whoever they know ( I wouldn't have a clue if this is happening or not).
Those that win should be the best. The best of show, or whatever catagory, should be awarded to the best in show. If it happens to be the same car as
last year, all that means is that no one has built a better car yet. It should encourage us to strive further, do better, not whinge that such and
such got it again.
If a car was only allowed to win at that show once in its life, then how does the person who wins know they won because they were the best and not
because they were the best, except for this one, that one and the other one that have won it before. They won't know how they compare to the
others unless they were competing against the others.
Sure some cars never get out except to go and compete at the shows, thats what their owners chose to do to keep them in pristine condition. Not all of
us are lucky enough to have spare cars to do this with (although most of us have a project or few taking up the space in the driveway ), but lets not criticise those who chose this route, its their choice.
Personally I like to see cars driven, but thats my choice. Maybe there should be a separate cartagory for show-only vehicles? Who knows, maybe a
catagory for driven vehicles, even if not daily drivers but maybe that have covered a certain number of kms that year, or gone to a certain number of
events.
That might be a bit troublesome to police, but the main point of this prattle, is lets not get down about Joe Bloggs winning again, lets just try and
beat them next year.
As I said at the beginning, it would be good to see new cars winning the trophies, but it should be because the cars are better.
Restricting number of catagories at one event is good.
My 2 cents.

yeah i am whinning abit but it looks like all of us want MORE vw around and restored etc but arent willing to do the encouraging. There would be more
respect if the shows were based on encouragement rather than most money spent etc......and would make us strive more. Things like best find and most

The Bronze Returns...
Howdy all. Finally back home from the Outlaws where we have been staying for the past couple of weeks. No net time there! They have 16 hours for the
month and 30 minutes of me checking the emails once a week used up all my brownie points.
Was great catching up with you all. Looked for forum people in the morning and cars in the afternoon. Sold a few stickers and caught up with old and
new faces. The Dog-O-War nearly didn't make it as it went over a dune cliff the lunchtime before. Will attach some pics when I get / find some.
I loved the sound off between a few of the bugs here and there topped off by the Drag bug. Love the smell of Nitromethane scolding the nostrils and
eyes and blasting all serenity from the shed.
Seems I didn't catch up with everyone. I would have liked to have stayed for the presentations but needed to get back to Newcastle before dark.
Thanks to BLK56 for leapfroging me along the Freeway and apologies to OvalGlen for me running out on him.
Got to catch up with Mark who isn't a forum member (I think) but own the sweet Twincab that I spotted in Dubbo a few weeks back. Recognised it
immeadiately and have hopefully made a Dubbo contact as there arn't many flat fours out here of the German variety.
Cheers all. Thanks for the great day.
