Thanks for coming up Daimo,
Sorry I didn't get a chance to catch up.
How did the Notch go?
I saw you tried a different size tyre later in the day.
Hope you can get a chance to do more drag racing in the future.

Adam,
You guys didn't waste any time getting home to SA, what a drive!!.
I unpacked all the junk from the ute today, camping gear, tools, spares, took way too much stuff. pushed the car into the back of the shed after a
wash. It will sit there for a while, Have to save up for a new gearbox after smashing 1st gear on my last run. I have reached the limit of stock axles
and 1st & 2nd gears, still, what a weekend its just great to have just Vee Dubs and Vee Dub dudes together racing and having a ball.
This is the stock axel I broke on Saturday. can't complain, this box has over 50 passes on it, and this is the first time it has broken

yeah went o.k.
no traction in first gear at all, and none over 5500rpm, in second or third.the weird thing was that i could absolutely launch back up the return
road, well into third before the left kink, with no traction problems at all????????
it was very frustrating watching that bloody kombi come past as i was wheel spinning at 3/4 track (Aaron is the nicest bloke you could ever come accross tho)
anyways-ran consistent 8.7 seconds on Saturday 2.2sec 60ft, 81mph-and felt 7's were coming
first thing Sunday fell to 10 seconds.
after they treated the track, mid Sunday, straight back to 9's.before efforts to get the tyres hot saw the end of the clutch
...... so next year i will be back with some mickey T's and the biggest kennedy pressure plate i can find

Hi CT
Can't wait to see it thanks heaps and yes cranky one was one of my favourites.
We had skippy jump accross in front of us a rabbit on the side of the road as well as a fox and an spiny ant eater.
Left at 4pm and got home 12midnight sun my german car went good on the way home.

Only rabbits and roos?
We had an angry looking wombat standing on the putty road daring us not to swerve!
Thanks again Craig for organising the weekend.
The event seemed relaxed and allowed to roll on under its own steam but I know how much effort it takes to make a weekend like that seem that way!
Can't wait for next year.

Thanks for the preview pic Matt. Looking forward to seeing the photos.
Relaxed and calm on the outside - nervous wreck beneath. Well worth it though.
That little beast ran a 9 flat at 77.5mph! I'm hooked!

TOP WEEKEND AT WARRICK
without a doubt the most enjoyable and well organised event that I have ever attended in the past 20 years on our Australian VW calender .
For those who missed it , a piece of advise......DON'T DO IT AGAIN !! you must come next year , join with us and have a great time !!
To Craig , very well done mate for organising such a great weekend . With the standards-bar set so high now , organisers of all VW events are going to
be under extreme pressure to satisfy the tastes of our VW enthusiests . THIS ONE IS GOING TO BE HARD TO BEAT!!
If this was the only VW event that was scheduled each year , then that would be enough for me .
To the people and track officials of Warrick , a very big thankyou for your hospitality . I have never met a nicer bunch of officials , not only were
they there to run the event for us but were there to share in our accomplishments and enjoy the weekend with us .
To all the VW racers and race teams , thanks for making such a great effort to travel to Warrick to make this event the best that there is . For
taking the time to set up camp and make the pit area look like a true proffessional event with banners , flags , marques and racewear .
To everyone in the crowd that came to support this event and cheer on the racers , a huge thankyou !! The kombis parked along the top of the mounds
with their annexes out looked great . With out you there , we wouldn't have tried so hard to impress and the event would not have been so exciting
.
WELL DONE TO ALL INVOLVED !!:beer:beer

Well this starts once again with a few hours sleep in 2 days and a real long trip to Queensland . I finished working on the S3 at around 10pm and its
a 9 hour drive  . Racing started at 11am . So I filled up in Sydney and made it all the way to Glen Innes on just over 3/4 of a tank of fuel .
Thats 561 km with almost 400 hp with just 50 l . Anyway made it to Warwick around 9 am , pretty much enough time to have a shower , get changed and
straight to the track  . Once we arrived I checked out the competition in our class . Didnt seem like the trophy was threatened so I thought
Id let Michelle do the driving chores . I think she got around 15 passes on the first day .
Once the racing finished we went back to the motel , I crashed much to the disapointment of Michelle . Second day of racing , checked all the
levels and adjusted the tyre pressures . She managed in total 28 passes with a best time of 9.1 @ 83 mph with a 60 ft time of 1.9 . She did well but
needs to launch the car better . According to my quick testing car is capable of 8.3's @88 mph with a 1.7 60ft time . I'll be taking the car out to
WSID soon in an attempt to crack an 11 .
The way back was , memorable you could say . 100km into the trip the power steering hose return had rubbed on the driveshaft . I couldnt work out why
until I checked the tyre pressures . Michelle was driving on a flat :banghead: , there was just enough clearance when the car was stationary but
going over bumps it would rub through eventually leaking . Pumped the tyre up and there was heaps of clearance . Spent 3 hours trying to patch it up
but nothing worked , so it was a long drive home without power steering swapping the batteries over ever 1-2 hours . Took us 12 hours to get home .
Oh and the kangaroos , geez they think they are invincible . I had one try and jump into the s3 as I was driving . Its safest to drive in the middle
of the road cause they seem to hang out on the edges of the road .
Anyway was a great weekend , I enjoyed myself and will go again next year (if Michelle lets me :P )
Apart from CT and Wayne anyone else drive up and race ?
I suggest next year we have a class for all tow cars , I would have loved to have run the 200T as well

my weekend fun at warrick-
QUALIFYING
turbo oval- 7.193@101.8mph (win)
twin cab- 11.392@60.15mph (lose)
turbo oval- 7.517@99.55mph (win & missed 3rd gear)
twin cab- 11.578@59.44mph (lose)
turbo oval- broken transmission @ start line
twin cab- 11.436@60.32mph (win & cheated by sounding truck horns at lights to stun opposition)
RACING
twin cab- 12.999@45.73mph (lose @ red light at start line by 0.001secs)
twin cab- 11.384@59.83mph (win on a 11.3 dial-in)
twin cab- 11.306@60.24mph (win on a 11.3 dial-in)
twin cab- 11.720@48.12mph (win on a 11.3 dial-in on the brakes)
twin cab- 11.282@60.56mph (semi-final win on a 11.3 dial-in with the smallest of both breakouts)
twin cab- 11.531@48.43mph (finals win on a 11.3 dial-in on the brakes)
TOO MUCH FUN !! LETS DO IT AGAIN TOMORROW...
after winning the air-cooled bracket , my best mate Dean and myself packed up camp , loaded the twin cab , connected the enclosed trailer , packed
away 'mango' with all of the show display and put it inside trailer , and headed off on the 950k journey back to Wollongong .
Went to the weighbridge first thing tuesday morning before unpacking and found that our tough little 4 cylinder air-cooled type-4 engine was hauling
3840kg . Yep you read that right ! 3.84ton , NOW HOW TOUGH IS THAT !!

Whats wrong with that ?
This year 3 next year 4 cause the 200t will tow the Golf . Michelle did 28 runs on the weekend , there were times when the staging lanes were empty so
why shouldnt we throw some more cars in the mix . And 3 cars is plenty considering there was 1 watercooled , 5? buggies and 3 Vw's alternatively
powered . Im not saying run them all day , just do a Chicago shootout when they are doing calculations for the other events

Thanks for posting that Wayne.
I don't think most enthusiasts realize that the costs to go racing are far more than having a car to race.
I used to travel quite a bit throughout the '90s but in the end my job prevented it(both dollars and time)
Even with a modern toe vehicle, the trip from here to Sydney and back is a 1000 dollar exercise,
before we even unload the car.
Whether that is your own dollars or those of a sponsor,
it is still a lot of money that is gone forever...never to be spent on go fst parts.
It really makes a difference though, when the event and friendship of people , are as good as the Warwick event.
Thanks to every one who came out to the track and made this event the best ever!

Sounds like a good weekend! might make the trip next time.Did notice my car was also used for the warwick weekender for advertising:o. For that high
fuel cost its worth going gas Wayne. When travelling to Sydney town from Coffs and back $170 bill. It does pay in the long run to run a gas setup.I
also have a F100 with gas top cond.Short wheelbase for Sale if anyone interested, very cheap to run.TOP TOW CAR u2u me JVL.

What most people don't know, is that mike was doing a great job also tuning the Dave Stoker/Mike waldron turbo bug(6.26@116!),
And that Mike K was nursing a broken ankle from the previous week.
Thanks for putting up with the pain Mike, and putting on a show for us!
That's me on my best pass of the weekend. A 7.39@93.55mph.

Thanks for posting the pictures Dave.
Out of curiosity i see in the states a few rail cars powered by volksie engines. Is anyone planning on do so here. I would love to see that sort of
action.

No one that I know of.
There have been a few in the past here in Australia, but none at the moment that are on my grape vine.
Peter Keegan, Earl Kryger, and Ross Bulloch(Hurk the Turk) all ran rails with VW engines.
