whats funny is that the car was not advertised here for sale. if it were for sale it would have a $ figure as per the buying and selling rules. instead andrew has sought advice which i think is great and a sensible decision. along the way though he has requested "offers" be made until he has come to finally advertise the car at auction on ebay as per advice recieved. in doing so the car is listed with a note -

"please note that this vehicle is being advertised elsewhere and therefore i reserve the right to end this auction at any time".

if this were true then a $ figure should have been placed on the car on this forum. if however the car is advertised elsewhere with a $ figure than i stand corrected and am interested to see where it is in fact advertised and for how much. if it is not and this is where the car is "advertised elsewhere" then i think its simply a sneaky and dodgy act aimed at screwing people over.

my 2c. goodluck with the sale andrew.

mick - i agree with you and the points you have made. i further agree that ebay is the best selling medium and that on ebay andrew will more than likely get "what someone is willing to pay" and market value as you so put it.

i do hope that the auction is not pulled prior to end of auction as if it does i think it shows a poor reflection of andrews character. as you said mick to which i too agree - the seller can do what they want.

the $ i had put aside for this car will stay in my bank. i will not bid based on principle.

appreciate your thoughts and again goodluck with the sale andrew.

This was my original post....

Perhaps it's advertised "word of mouth" in the local community where the car is located???
"....if this were true then a $ figure should have been placed on the car on this forum."
What a load of crock. He sought advise on behalf of the owner and recieved it.

"i.... think its simply a sneaky and dodgy act aimed at screwing people over."
I highly doubt it.Ther car belongs to someone else and he's mentioned that both here and on EBay,therefore what business is it of yours and what would imply that he was being dishonest?? EBay would be the best selling medium to sell it on as the prices obtained off their recently have been substantial on similarly listed vehicles,so it would make good sence to sell it for what the potential buyer is prepared to pay, which would then be the market value. I personally don't see anything wrong with that...it might sell for the starting price..who cares?? The seller can do what they want,it's their car afterall so don't be so critical.

true, its not really advertised here as such, but I reckon he means here, being that if someone off here offers the right $$$ he'll take it and can therefore pull it from ebay! Will be good to see what it goes for....you don't want it Nick, KG all the way! :spin:

Hey guys, firstly, settle down....!!!

Yes the car is advertised for sale locally and no I haven't listed it here for sale. Please understand that that I was directed here by a member [Adam i think it was that spoke to Mum, thanks Mate] and did so to get some advise as to the best way of selling the car. As I know "&^$#$ from clay" about cars, you guys have all been very helpful in making a decision....

As for removing the listing before the end of the auction I have clearly stated that in the listing as I am sure you all would too if you as it is quite legal under eBay rules.....

I have had trouble with finding the listing after I put it on eBay so I contacted eBay Help who told me that I had placed it in Cars/Car Parts/Volkswagon.... and recommended I remove the listing and re-list it.

I took that advise and have had to remove the listing and will re-list it tonight.

Thanks again and I do apologise for those who are watching the car on eBay, i will get it back on there ASAP.
Cheers,

Andrew

I would have thought cars/car parts/volkswagen was 100% the right area for it. Where are they suggesting you list it now, antiques/tables/mahogany?

Most people looking for thing like that probably just search - vw oval - or something like that, so it would have been found, good luck with it all anyway.

Good luck with the sale, she looks like a sad old girl that just needs a little TLC.
Cheers to anyone with the $$$ to see her on the road. I would consider it, but I already have one in similar shape that will exhaust all resources as is.

Best of luck with it all!

The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale.

Hi all. I have been away on holidays for a week so i haven't been able to get to a computer.....
the eBay auction was cancelled the day before it was to end as the local bloke who was intereste came good with a deposit. Spoke to Mum yesterday and she said he wanted 3 days to sort out his finances but he hasn't been back yet. If he doesn't do so by next week mum has some other interested people to call. I guess it wouldn;t hurt to give her a call if you are interested to discuss. [Lorraine - 07 4787 3451]
He better come good with the money, it'll give me the shits if he doesn't as i have been trying to sort this car our for a month or so now.......

Thanks again.
Andrew
